| I've just got a Server Error and Time Out message. What now? |
|
These messages are generally
temporary. Try refreshing your browser: For Internet Explorer, hold down
the "Shift" key and click on "Refresh" button; For Netscape, hold down
the "Shift" key and click on "Reload". This will update your cache (disk
and memory), and can be used for trouble with any sites on the net. It
may be worth closing and relaunching your browser.

| Do I have to run Java or JavaScript? |
|
We use JavaScript only. To ensure your browser is able to read Javascript, IE users
click here. Netscape users
click here. In many cases we could provide a
better user experience if we used Java as well on the client browser,
however we have elected not to do so at present to ensure that the widest
possible audience has access to our services.

| Should I enable cookies? |

You will need to have cookies enabled to use this site. Please be aware
that if you do not enable cookies you may not be able to log in. We store
the cookies on the server and not on the your computer.

so you will need to download a free version of
winzip
from the link next to the download button.
Tip: Here's a foolproof way to save an article from Newstext. When you have the article on your screen, click in the text, highlight all [Control+A], Save [Control+S], open up a word document and Paste [Control+V] the text into it. Then you can title the document as you wish and save it wherever you can easily find it later. |
| How to change my screen resolution to get a bigger font size? |
|
PC Users: Go to the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, double click on the icon.
This will open the "My computer" folder. Select the "Control Panel" folder
and double click. Then select the "Display" icon and double click. This
will bring up the display properties of your monitor, click on the "settings"
tab. On the right is an area called "desktop area" and it displays what
your current screen resolution is, for example 800 by 600 pixels. Using
the sliding scale "Less to More" you can either increase the screen resolution
to fit everything on your desktop or decrease the scale. Once you have
decided upon your new screen resolution, click on the "apply" button.
The screen will go blank for a few seconds whilst it reconfigures the
screen resolution. The screen resolution can be altered at any time.
MAC Users: Go to the Apple Icon, select Control Panels, then select Monitors and select the screen resolution you wish to change to, your computer will automatically update your screen resolution. |
