Bloggers Rate Best & Worst Super Bowl Ads
If you missed some of the Super Bowl ads this year, they're all on YouTube's adblitz channel. USA Today's Ad Meter ranks reactions to ads from best to worst; two ads tied for first place--the Doritos pug ad and the Bud Light dog sitter ad. "My favorites were the Doritos pug, Volkswagen's Darth Vader, Best Buy's wacky use of Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne, and the Snickers spot in which a log flattened Roseanne," writes The TV Guy. Media File has the ads rated highest by Tivo and Kellogg's ranking systems. Warming Glow has a video slideshow of their favorite ads, with Audi's "Release the Hounds" at #1: "Good job, whichever advertising agency made this. You evil reptiles." SBNation takes a look at their least favorite commercials. They hated all the Groupon ads...

AOL's announcement last night that it will buy The Huffington Post for $315 million will put Arianna Huffington "in charge of all of AOL content and other properties, including well known names such as Engadget, Moviefone, MapQuest and TechCrunch..." writes BoomTown. "More to the point, the flashy acquisition-which essentially came together in less than two weeks in January-will become the linchpin of AOL CEO Tim Armstrong's aggressive, if risky, strategy to focus the long-troubled company as a content and advertising powerhouse." AdAge writes, "The addition of Huffington Post will increase AOL's audience 22%, according to Mr. Armstrong, but more importantly infuse the company with the Huffington Post's expertise: aggregating and creating low-cost news and information for mass audiences." TechCrunch applauds the move: "It's still far from certain that AOL's lumbering corporate bureaucracy--and obsession with search terms--can ever be compatible with good, fresh journalism. But by putting Huffington in charge of content, Armstrong has given AOL the best possible chance of pulling it off." The Awl writes, "What's rather shocking..."
