Robin Fox (born 1934) is an Anglo-American anthropologist who has written on the topics of incest avoidance, marriage systems, human and primate kinship systems, evolutionary anthropology, sociology and the history of ideas in the social sciences. He founded the department of anthropology at Rutgers University in 1967 and has remained a professor there for the rest of his career, also being a director of research for the H. F. Guggenheim Foundation from 1972-84.
Fox published a work, The Imperial Animal, with Lionel Tiger in 1970, that was one of the earliest to advocate and demonstrate an evolutionary approach to the understanding of human social behaviour. His daughter Kate Fox wrote the international bestselling book Watching the English and his daughter Anne Fox is the founder and director of Galahad SMS Ltd. in the UK.
In 2013 Fox was elected to the US National Academy of Sciences (Anthropology and Evolutionary Biology).
Robin Fox was born in the village of Haworth in the Yorkshire Dales, at the nadir of the Great Depression in 1934. He had very little schooling during the Second World War, moving all over England with his soldier father (ex-Indian Army), and his mother, then an army nursing aide. After a narrow escape from death by bombing, he pursued his early education through the Army, the Church of England, public libraries, and the BBC, more than through formal schooling. Then through a series of scholarships—one of them to the grammar school in Thornton, West Yorkshire, he made his way to the London School of Economics in 1953, and gained a first degree in Sociology with First Class Honours. This included Philosophy and Social Anthropology, with much influence from Karl Popper, Ernest Gellner and Raymond Firth—and occasional interaction with Bertrand Russell.

ARTEFACT is a FACT TV series exploring the relationship between music and visual art, from behind the scenes to front of stage. In this episode, we get the scoop on Robert Henke and Robin Fox's Lumière, an audiovisual laser performance that took place as part of the Barbican's Digital Revolution this Summer. Since Lumière is site specific, each room demands an adapted placement of the lasers. The laser beams connect the screen with the auditorium, creating a three dimensional object floating in the middle of the room above the audience. Henke, a veteran of both electronic music and the music tech world through his work with Monolake and Ableton, sat down with ARTEFACT to explain how the project works. Excellent Polish festival Unsound returns this year – and the theme is surprise. Put simply, that means that there’s no full public line-up: some names will be announced in the lead-up to the festival, while others will remain a mystery until they take the stage. “How do our expectations affect the value we place on music as an art form?” asks the festival’s press release – arguing that the “unique atmosphere” of Unsound should prove just as important to the festival’s popularity as the line-up. Of course, part of what makes this work is that Unsound has already gathered an audience's trust by booking great line-ups, and in the build-up to Unsound 2015, FACT TV are running a series of films from last year's festival. First off, we go behind the scenes of Atom™ and Robin Fox's Double Visi...
Robin Fox is an Australian artist who, among many other things, has developed a system that syncs synthetic sound to high-powered lasers. By sending the same electric signal to both speakers and lasers connected to high-speed motors, Robin creates a stunning visual representation of sound he calls "mechanical synesthesia" — made all the more interesting by the fact that his own mother experienced actual synesthesia herself. In this Banff Centre Talk — held during the 2016 Convergence residency on electronic music and visual art — lead faculty member (and Mutek festival programmer) Patti Schmidt talks to Robin about noise, music, lasers and how his mother's experience influenced him. The entire show of Atom™ & Robin Fox at Sónar Buenos Aires. Please bear in mind that this is a highly technical show, not exactly an entertainment-focused one, which aims to show how audio, video & lasers can work together. The audio selection as well as its slow pacing may not suit to your liking. Take this in mind to understand what is going on, otherwise you are going to get "bored" pretty quickly.

Here it is, a special video with every Custom Move of all characters in Super Smash Bros Wii U! It took me really a lot of time between recording and editing but the final result is nice and clear. There are some mistakes though, for example I forgot to record Fox's down special hitbox but at least I managed to do the comparisons of every move (I used 3 Nintendo GameCube Wavebird controllers on the same frequence so every move starts at the same frame input).
