An elderly man died when the car in which he was travelling in rolled over

THE national Christmas road toll has hit 30 with the death of an elderly SA man in rural Victoria.

The man, 91, from Seacombe, died when a vehicle carrying five other family members, also believed to be from South Australia, rolled in rural Victoria.

He was travelling in a Landcruiser which left the Murray Valley Highway at Shelley after the driver apparently lost control, just after 7pm last night, police said.

Witnesses reported seeing another vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road.

The elderly man died at the scene. Three others were treated for minor injuries.

In Queensland, an elderly man died in a four-car crash near Beerburrum, about 70km north of Brisbane, at 10.15am.
