 A boat carrying people to a flood shelter has capsized in Bangladesh, pushing the death toll higher as the worst flooding in years turned the capital, Dhaka, into an open sewer and disease spread.

Rescue workers pull out bodies after a boat capsized in the Periyar reservoir in the remote Thekkady forest area in Kerala state, around 160 kilometers (100 miles) east of Cochin, India. A boat carrying 75 tourists capsized on a reservoir in southern India on Wednesday, killing at least 28 people and leaving dozens missing, police said.
