AUSTRALIA goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has signed a new contract to keep him at Fulham until the end of next season.

The 38-year-old Schwarzer signed the agreement on Thursday while preparing for Saturday's Premier League match against Arsenal - the club that had been widely reported to be interested in him during the last transfer window.

Schwarzer said he was "delighted to have finally signed a contract extension with Fulham after a great deal of speculation."

Schwarzer joined Fulham on a free transfer from Middlesbrough in 2008 and was voted player of the year by fans as he helped the west London club to an all-time best finish of seventh place in his debut season.

He then helped Fulham reach last season's Europa League final.
