Vietnam Sunrise

IF you're looking for comfort and familiarity, this is your place.

The website for Vietnam Sunrise is great fun to play with. Open up any of the menus, press play and the pages turn with a convincing swoosh, like a magic book from Harry Potter.

It seems pretty hi-tech stuff for an Asian restaurant that's hidden away in a little shopping centre on Henley Beach Rd.

But this is not your run-of-the-mill suburban Vietnamese. In comfort, style and modern amenities, it is light years away from the brigade of exotic names scattered further north around Woodville and Pennington.

The formula is obviously popular. The place is busy and it has just been nominated for the local industry awards.

However, I reckon all this comfort comes at a cost that goes beyond a couple of extra dollars on the final tote.

I have dined regularly at Vietnam Sunrise since it opened last year, and at the mentioned bakery / cafe before that, and am always content with the quality of the food and service, and the affordable prices. I am more than happy to take a "cruise" two or three times a week, with consistently fresh and enjoyable meals and good service.
