Conservative Anglican leaders have rejected a proposal to hold their divided union together, calling it "deeply flawed."
The statement from the conservative bloc came Wednesday and was endorsed by archbishops from West Africa, Rwanda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Australia and Anglican Church of North America.
The covenant, backed by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, aims to keep the Anglican Communion together despite its deep splits on sexuality, the role of women and the authority of the Bible.
