GPAC unveils season of incredible stories
GPAC has unveiled a spectacular nine-show line-up for its 2011 Alcoa Theatre season, promising fantastic performances from Australia's best companies.The new season was launched in the Playhouse Theatre on Thursday December 2, where up to 800 people gathered to hear about the shows on offer in 2011. Popular theatre and television performer Eddie Perfect hosted the event, his trademark humour and wit adding plenty of spice to the evening.

Local comics set to sweat it out in Raw Comedy
Every year, fledgling comedians all over the country sweat it out on stage as the Melbourne International Comedy Festival's Raw Comedy competition heads out in search of the next biggest and brightest comedy star. Amid the tears (of laughter), the tragedy and triumphs, only one newcomer can emerge as champion, and pocket the ultimate prize of a trip to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Shoehorn Sonata - The Shoehorn Sonata is a play inspired by actual events during world War II. It is a story of love, sacrifice, war, memory -- and the exquisite demands of friendship. It centres around two characters - Bridie, and Sheila who met in 1942 after the Japanese torpedo the ship on which they were supposed to escape from Singapore. Although their friendship could survive the three and a half years of captivity it did not, it seems, survive the peace.
