Gift Sets Program at the Library of America

The Library of America book collection will be an amazing addition to our media center. We appreciate your support for the National Honor Society and are excited to use the new books.

—Morgan High School National Honor Society, Morgan, Utah
(books donated by Dick Creager)

What a delightful surprise to learn several weeks ago that The Annenberg Center for Learning and Research was to receive one hundred titles from the Library of America series! Your generous gift has doubled the number of Library of America volumes in The Annenberg Center and we are very grateful for this significant addition to the American literature collection and the chance to offer students and faculty even greater resources for learning.

—The Chapin School, New York, New York
(books donated by Tom Wolfe)

I cannot put into words the depth of our appreciation. Many students have been the beneficiaries of the gift you have given to your alma mater.

—Anoka High School, Anoka, Minnesota
(books donated by Garrison Keillor)

We are very excited to have the collection to add to our growing library. The children have already begun to enjoy the collected works of talented writers throughout history.

—The Devereux Georgia Treatment Network, Kennesaw, Georgia
(books donated by Charles Ackerman)

Since our English teachers regularly teach American authors such as Mark Twain, Willa Cather, James Fenimore Cooper, Theodore Dreiser, Robert Frost and others, we know that these books will be used often by faculty and students and will be a rich addition to our library collection.

—Dunedin High School, Dunedin, Florida
(books donated by Christopher and Trudy Giuliana)

Special bookplates are printed with the donor's name and suitable citation are included for gifts of 25 volumes or more.

Through The Library of America Gift Set Program, you can make a tax-deductible gift of volumes to a library of your choice—a child's school, your alma mater, or a public library—and help foster greater appreciation of American writing.

Gifts can be made in honor of a friend or family member, and are a wonderful way to remember a loved one who was an enthusiastic reader or regular patron of a particular library. Past recipients of gift sets have included public and private schools, colleges, universities, public libraries, prisons, the American Library in Paris, the American Academy in Rome, the Roosevelt Institute in Hyde Park, New York, the Clemente Course in the Humanities at Bard College, and Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, among many others.

Volumes given through the Gift Sets Program are discounted to $25 each, or 30 percent off the retail price, and shipping is free. Gifts of any size can be made, from a few volumes to a complete set. Gifts are tax deductible.

Bookplates to commemorate the gift, to be placed in the front of each volume, can be ordered for an additional $300 for donations of 25 or more volumes.

Sample costs are as follows:

170 volumes (full set) $4,250
100 volumes $2,500
50 volumes $1,250
25 volumes $625
