Big thanks to everyone who stopped by WFMU's 2010 Record Fair in Manhattan this past weekend! The fair was a success, with over 4,000 attendees! Special thanks to our many dedicated volunteers... we couldn't have done it without you! Next year's Record Fair is scheduled for Oct 28, 29, & 30, 2011.
Coming to My Castle of Quiet on October 29th: Daniel J. Moore creates pulsating, meditative heavy electronics, like Cluster II with the grime factor set on very high. He's released several excellent tapes -- his "Black Totality" cassette (as Family Treasures) for Temple of Pei is four tracks of hovering, churning menace, while his release on Tape Drift from earlier this year, "Altars of Ashes," plays it relatively subtle on the electronics and percussion. Check out this live performance between 12-3am with William Berger hosting.
Saturday October 30th at 11AM: Michael Shelley welcomes singer-songwriter/guitarist Tony Joe White, best known for his 1969 hit "Polk Salad Annie." Tony Joe drops by with his guitar to play a few songs & discuss the art of songwriting. For a Tony Joe White primer, check out Michael's 2008 interview!
Have some time to root around? For years WFMU's been keeping up an extensive Old Bin page full of short reviews our DJs write to keep each other informed of some obscure and maybe overlooked goods that lay in the deepest abcesses of our library walls. Give it a look here and maybe discover something in the repository!
Version 2.1 of the free WFMU iPhone app has been released. Click here to get it via iTunes (or search for "WFMU" in the app store). The newest version includes live commenting, Twitter & Facebook integration, offline listening, last.fm scrobbling and lots, lots more.
We also have an app that is available for Android! Just search for "WFMU" in the marketplace.
The WFMU time is now 9:24pm EDT on Thursday.
