Compared to some of the weirder arcade cabinets we’ve seen, Envador’s ArcadeDock is delightfully functional. The tabletop cabinet doesn’t have any computers or monitors built-in, but instead lets you easily throw a laptop inside for instant arcade gaming. Envador did cheat a little bit, using a pre-assembled mini-cabinet cutout. The magic is in the modifications, which include a slide-out keyboard and, most importantly, a tilting control panel that provides access to the laptop cooling pad and connecting cables. The cabinet was created as part of a promotion by Lenovo, focused on doing fun things with laptops. You can vote for Envador’s creation at the “What’s Your Idea of Fun” website, and you can learn how to create one of these mods ourself at Envador.com. [via Arcade Heroes]
Who needs a flashlight app for the iPhone when you’ve got a Nintendo DS handy? In Australia, Christopher Miszkowiec was riding in a car with his family when they hit a deer — yep, it happens over there — and rolled over several times. Christopher’s father, Wayne, freed himself and six-month-old baby Joseph, while the boy freed himself and his younger brother, Dilon. With his mother, Kathleen, was trapped unconscious in pitch darkness, Christopher got a little creative with his Nintendo DS.
Time to go back to Albion and start a revolution in Fable 3, but before you go, get some help from the best walkthroughs, hints and tips around the Web. To get started, I recommend using the Fable 3 Wiki as a reference. There’s still a lot of missing information, but you’ll eventually find detailed descriptions of weapons, clothing, jobs, missions and side quests. For walkthroughs, Video Games Blogger is building a YouTube video guide, and IGN has a written walkthrough in progress.
Proof that geeks are way more romantic than jocks, Matt Gilgenbach spent three months programming a video game designed specifically to propose to his girlfriend. The result was A Mobius Proposal, a cooperative puzzle game that requires each player to hammer out a path for the other, until they can eventually meet.
They say when you work hard, you can play hard, so I can only imagine the sadness when Antarctica’s lone Golden Tee arcade cabinet broke down. The game is a popular way to kill the time among the residents of McMurdo Station, a scientific base that holds roughly 500 people in the winter and 1,300 in the summer. Not long ago, the station’s 5 year-old Golden Tee machine suffered a hard drive failure, and a quick service call was, of course, out of the question.
It is Wednesday no more, but I’m going to break with tradition and hook you up with some Fallout: New Vegas hints, tips, cheats and walkthroughs anyway. At this point, most Fallout: New Vegas text walkthroughs are works in progress, like those at GameFAQs and IGN. Same goes with the video walkthrough at GamerFuzion, but I’d definitely keep an eye on all of those as they update with more content. For now, the Fallout Wiki has a nice list of New Vegas sidequests, with quick walkthroughs for many of them.
One of Super Meat Boy’s most delightful flourishes is the way it ushers in each new batch of levels with the music from Dramatic Look. Why this allusion exists is anybody’s guess, but it epitomizes how Super Meat Boy, at times, wants to be about anything but itself. And for the most part, that’s okay.
