I listen to his show now and again, and every once in a while (earlier today as it happens) I even tune in Fox News over the InterWebs to watch his show because, well ...... that sort of senseless propaganda is amusing sometimes.
I saw a couple of his Soros clips and wondered (a) how one man (Soros) had managed to accumulate enough money and power that he could bring down national economies on a whim, and (b) just how far down the demonization road Beck could go in his delusion before he offended people enough that they called him on it
I guess the question would better have been phrased as how far passed the point where he offended enough people that they called him on it has he gone.
Jewish leaders have condemned Glenn Beck for comments he made on Fox News accusing billionaire philanthropist George Soros -- a Jew -- of being complicit with the Holocaust as a child in Nazi-occupied Hungary.

It's enough to make ya wonder where the phrase "busy as a beaver" came from isn't it?

This is what unqualified support, and an essentially unfettered police force, results in
I sat in a plain, ordinary downtown hotel seminar room for two days this week, listening, one after another, to utterly jarring stories of police sadism at the G20.-- and for the most part the types of police officer who took a mans prosthetic leg from him and told him to "hop" to jail will face no police force or government reprisal for their actions.
Tales of women forced to pee through their jeans. Naked students ordered to lift their testicles for inspection. A woman snatched from a downtown corner and dropped off near midnight in the shadows of Scarborough, no directions or hope of finding her way home.
There are a whole lot of Canadians who are either completely onside with what happened in Toronto, or willing to excuse it under the "few bad apples" theory -- and their minds will remain unchanged until they are the ones subject to police excess.
As for the police, well .... don't ask why people like me distrust you on sight; your fellow officers, and the system that has been allowed to protect them, is your real problem - deal with it.

There's a fair bit of noise in the political part of the blogosphere about Stephen Harper deciding that he doesn't need the support of Parliament to keep Canada in a non-combat training role in Afghanistan, but he doesn't really need it given that he's already got the support of the Liberal Party leadership -- and that means he's got the votes to make it happen.
The NDP and the Bloc have their respective knickers in a knot over it all and want a debate - but really, what's the point?
If it goes to the House Harper will tell the CPoC MP's to vote in favour of the idea, and Ignatieff will tell the LPoC MP's to vote in favour of the idea, the NDP and the Bloc will tell their MP's to vote against the idea, the tally of the resulting vote will show the House to be in favour of the idea, and all that will have been accomplished is that a bunch of time and money got spent debating a matter with a foregone conclusion.
Why bother?

According to the "Ottawa Protocol" anti-Semitism includes
Accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group, or even for acts committed by non-Jews.
A statement I am sure will be applauded by those who currently like to generalize about Muslims (or Aboriginal people, or immigrant groups) based on the real or imagined wrongdoing of a single person or group. It's not all that difficult to imagine what people like our local WingNut Lowell Green would have to say about that being applied to him.... I can already hear the phrase 'restriction on free speech and the ability to ask legitimate questions' coming up more than a few times during that conversation.
Personally I think it is a reasonable thing to expect in any discussion, provided of course it is applied to all ethnic/religious/cultural groups equally -- do you suppose it also includes holding Israeli's responsible for wrongdoing committed by the "group" known as the Government of Israel that they collectively decided would make decisions on their behalf?
Come on you lot .... enough with the conspiracy theories, we've all see planes that look like this haven't we?
A Republican congressman hoping to chair the powerful House Energy Committee refers to the Bible and God on the issue of global warming.Policy making based on religious faith ...... the mind boggles doesn't it.
Representative John Shimkus insists we shouldn't concerned about the planet being destroyed because God promised Noah it wouldn't happen again after the great flood.
Speaking before a House Energy Subcommittee on Energy and Environment hearing in March, 2009, Shimkus quoted Chapter 8, Verse 22 of the Book of Genesis.
He said: 'As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will never cease.'

-- instead of complaining about your online content being buried in the chaff, seek to rise above it.
To be fair, the three journalists who asked questions of Madden about traditional media verses new media in Google rankings didn't actually use the word "chaff" - but that's basically what they were concerned about.... the chaff of new/social media.
Tonight at ye 'olde digital photography course we talked about light, the temperature of light (who knew light had a temperature?), and reflection.... a discussion that by its nature had to include polarizing filters.

First Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada (and their various disciples and advocates) tried to blame Michael Ignatieff for Canada not getting one of the temporary revolving seats on the UN Security Council - but that was a stance that was pretty easily mocked and nobody really believed it anyway, so they've switched tactics.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper suggested Monday Canada lost its bid for a seat on the UN Security Council because his Conservative government won’t tolerate anti-Semitism.Ah .... so it wasn't really Iggy's fault after all, and we're really being punished for standing against
And while, according to Harper, "Israel may be subjected to fair criticism"
“We must be relentless in exposing this new anti-Semitism for what it is.”My question to Harper is "what does fair criticism look like"....
