re-Cycles is a not-for-profit bicycle recycling shop based in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). We:

repair donated bikes that we sell to the community.

provide an equipped shop and bike repair know-how so that you can maintain and repair your own bike.

Please note! We do not fix your bike for you. But if you wish to do so yourself there's always a Head Mechanic on hand to guide you if needed.

We are co-located with Cycle Salvation. You can buy bikes and parts or donate whenever either organization is open, but volunteering and do-it-yourself repair are only during re-Cycles hours.

07/27/10 - For the upcoming long weekend the shop be open as usual on Saturday, AND on Monday Aug. 2nd.

06/27/10 - The shop will be closed on Canada Day, and open as usual on Saturday July 3rd.

05/19/10 - For the May long weekend the shop will be open Saturday and closed Monday.

04/25/10 - Even though pretty well every single bike we had from last year was made ready during the winter, the early onset of Spring got everyone in the cycling mood and we have sold every one of those bikes! Approx. 250 since we moved on March 13!! But even though there are only a handful of bikes for sale right now please remember that both re-Cycles and Cycle Salvation are constantly getting more bikes ready as fast as we can, so you need to keep visiting the shop if there's a particular bike you're looking for.

03/21/10 - We now switch to our summer hours. This includes Saturday and Monday afternoons like last year and yes we are open this holiday weekend! Please see our Hours / location page for details.

03/16/10 - We have moved into our new shop (right beside our old one), and will be open for business as usual tonight. Not all items and parts have been set up, and not all bikes have been moved in, but the place is functional. Please enter by the side door at the end of the driveway, as we will keep the front door closed (it has too much glass and wood easily damaged by the passage of bikes).

03/12/10 - BIG NEWS! We will be closed this weekend as we move to our new location! That's right, for the second time in two years we're moving, and to an even better space right beside our current shop (473 Bronson instead of 477). We will reopen Monday the 15th for the monthly Basics Night and Tuesday evening as usual to the general public. We probably won't have every last thing in place but the shop will be more or less ready.

01/03/10 - Happy New Year! The shop has reopened after the Holiday shutdown.

Please note! Each evening shift at our shop is run by a volunteer "Head Mechanic". We make every effort to be open during our posted times, but there are the odd occasions when the Head Mechanic is not being able to attend the shift for whatever reason (and could not find a replacement on short notice). We appreciate your understanding if this happens, and apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.
