None of this good fortune is accidental. The foundation of Toronto’s greatness is a long tradition of respect for public service and the corresponding commitment of its workforce to making our city an enviable place to live, work and visit. TCEU Local 416 is proud to represent over 8,000 men and women who, along with many other dedicated public employees, Make Toronto Work every day.

Local 416 launches ad campaign

“In your neighbourhood, at your service”

TCEU Local 416 has launched an advertising campaign, with support from CUPE National, to introduce residents to some of the thousands of public employees who provide vital quality services every day.

“We want to let the community know that our members are proud of the work they do to help keep our city clean, safe and beautiful,” said President Mark Ferguson.  “These are real people delivering real services that matter to the people of Toronto.”

“In your neighbourhood … at your service” is the theme of transit shelter ads and billboards that have popped up around the city. They feature four city workers:

  • Mathan Karunaratnam, a Toronto Water plant technician, who is responsible for maintaining safe drinking water
  • Aislinn Caron, a city gardener
  • Rahul Singh, a Toronto EMS paramedic and founder of Global Medic, who was recently named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people.
  • Tony Ramdeen, a collector who picks up garbage, recyclables and organics

I need you help to save my sisters life. She desperately needs a bone marrow transplant. Without it she will not survive. She is a single mother of an 11 year old.

Please forward the attached to anyone and everyone you know. I am also working with Dave Ralph at EMS to set up clinics at HQ.
