About me: MAGAMBA! THE CULTURAL ACTIVIST NETWORK is a movement of Zimbabwean spoken word activists and creative rebels who use the word as a weapon. MAGAMBA! organizes people-based spoken word events in and around Zimbabwe and the Southern African region. In using protest poetry as a tool for empowerment and liberation, MAGAMBA! focuses on educating and elevating the mind-states of the youth to overcome their day-to-day oppression.
Founded by Comrade Fatso and Outspoken in 2007, it's home to other prominent spoken word activists and revolutionary artists. MAGAMBA! hosts its monthly show MASHOKO!, the Sub-versive Spoken Word Event. It is also taking the radical spoken word on a tour of Zimbabwe, educating youths on arts and culture as a tool for liberation while also hosting revolutionary spoken word shows in Zimbabwe's many towns. To spread the word further MAGAMBA! produces and distributes new, revolutionary music, the first of which is the recently released 'House Of Hunger' by Comrade Fatso and Chabvondoka (www.comradefatso.com) MAGAMBA! also organises MAKE SOME NOISE! Concerts for Freedom in Zimbabwe in the Southern African Region to raise awareness about the struggle in Zimbabwe.
