Last week, IJDH filed a peti­tion for pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sures before the Inter-American Com­mis­sion on Human Rights call­ing for imme­di­ate action to con­front the esca­lat­ing cri­sis of sex­ual vio­lence in Haiti’s dis­place­ment camps. This week, IJDH will tes­tify on unlaw­ful forced evic­tions from the camps.

IJDH col­lab­o­rated with U.S. Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Max­ine Waters to send a for­mal let­ter to Sec­re­tary of State Clin­ton call­ing for an end to U.S. sup­port of unfair and unde­mo­c­ra­tic elec­tions. IJDH Board Chair Ira Kurzban and Staff Attor­ney Nicole Phillips are mak­ing this argu­ment heard far and wide through their pub­lished arti­cles on the subject.

After an inves­ti­ga­tion into con­di­tions in Haiti’s dis­place­ment camps, IJDH has released a major report that gives voice to the 1.3 mil­lion earth­quake vic­tims who con­tinue to live in unsafe and unsan­i­tary tent cities more than eight months after the earthquake.
