The Ezra Pound 125th Birthday Bash! Over the past few weeks, I have presented some of the elements of Pound’s work that account for the texture of his poems: an informed internationalism, the “jump cut” technique, stylistic and metrical diversity that conveys the crush and crowds of a vibrant urban centre. At his best, Pound does what WBAI can do at its best: prod both the intellect and the imagination. This series on Ez concludes Saturday October 30th (Pound’s 125th birthday) with remarks on and readings from the Pisan Cantos. Please consider making a donation to support this wacky radio station, and remember, as Ez sez: “Freedom of speech without freedom of radio is as zero.” — Simon Loekle
