Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again.

Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content.

I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies.

Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week.

Feel free to give me a shout : waltjabsco@hotmail.com

THE FALL : Band On The Wall, Manchester, 5/5/82

Another flac conversion, though this has proved to be a right bastard to complete (seemingly corrupted tracks etc but all's well that ends well) !! Interesting gig from Manchester, May 1982, featuring several tracks off their then current album "Hex Enduction Hour" (hence the piccy).

THE WHO : Isle Of Wight Festival, August 1970

With thanks to Martin...
A set of legendary proportion from The 'oo, isle of Wight, 2am on the 30th August 1970. Above is a pic of John Entwistle in his infamous skeleton suit from this very concert...

VIC GODDARD & SUBWAY SECT : 20 Odd Years (The Story Of)

For Jimmy - sorry, haven't located "Somgs For Sale" yet!!
As I recently replied to a comment from blog visitor Jimmy, "I can't believe I haven't blogged him yet..." "Him" of course being the mercurial Vic Goddard & his outfit Subway Sect. This collection is the first of several posts featurig this largely forgotten talent, who has  anew album out this very week and is also touring. There are various files on the way, including studio and live material, so watch this space.

THE JAM : Kerrisdale Arena, Vancouver, Canada, 5th June 1982.

Here's a file new to the blog that I'm particularly pleased with. This took me the best part of a recent wet weekend to convert individually, track by track from Flac to MP3. The results are well worth the effort & this is a great addition to the collection. In historical terms, this was the last gig played on North American soil.

The blog is gradually getting back on its feet after the recent Rapid-shite debacle & this is dedicated to all  blog followers for your support, & to the usual suspects in particular. You know who you are... It means a lot to me... Enough of this else I'll be in tears in a minute lol... download & enjoy but please leave a comment or two...

Pt1

Pt2

PS apologies for the file being in 2 parts - unlike Rapidshare, Sharebee don't seem to like longer files !?!?!? All part of the learning curve. Just uploading this to Rapidshare also... I will add the code to the post as soon as...

& here's the Rapidshare file...

THEE MILKSHAKES VS THE PRISONERS (1984)

Here's another Prisoners rarity - the live LP of a session played in front of an invited audience at Oakwood Studios, 23/9/84. Plus there's the added bonus of a Milkshakes set...

I'd just like to say a quick & sincere "thank you" to everyone who has logged on, downloaded, donated, sent files, left messages & in any other way helped the blog over the last 9 months. We're over the 90,000 hits mark now & I'll send a couple of data cd / dvd's to the 100,00 visitor, which will be reached in the next couple of weeks.

HOWARD DEVOTO : Jerky Versions Of The Dream (1983)

Interesting post - Magazine album by bona fide genius Howard Devoto. In addition to the album tracks, this file also includes a handful of live tracks (Rotterdam 1983) and a Peel Session.

THE SMITHS : Complete Peel Sessions 1983 - 86

For regular contributor Martin Smith...
Useful roundup of all 15 tracks The Smiths recorded for John Peel...

THE FALL : Liverpool 1978

"...The company air will fuck up your face..."
Early Fall gig from Liverpool, 1978. I read somewhere that this "...sounds like it was recorded on a boombox, and, knowing The Fall, it probably was". Sound quality, then, leaves a lot to be desired, but worth adding to your collection. Loads more Fall to follow... Mark E Smith, for me, remains a maverick genius...; About twice a month I go for a beer with some ex colleagues from Prestwich Hospital, and most times we see Smith in one of the local hostleries... never yet plucked up the nerve to speak to him...

THE FALL : Band On The Wall, Manchester, 23/8/78

"The Fall... as onto barbed wire, as in back... inspired."

Another "difficult" FLAC conversion, this features the Mark E Smith, Bramah, Riley, Pawlett & Burns line up, with the following tracklisting :

01 Rebellious Jukebox 02 Psycho Mafia 03 Mother-Sister! 04 Like to Blow
05 Repetition 06 Industrial Estate 07 Mess of My 08 Stepping Out 09 Brand New Cadillac 10 Frightened (Some occasional tape wow & flutter).

THE CHAMELEONS : Band On The Wall, Manchester, 10/10/83

Another Chameleons file from a legendary Manchester venue.
For Phil & all Chameleons fans...

Sawdust Caesars 1978 - 82 : '79 Mod Compilation (Various Artists)

The usual "Thanks" to Martin Smith...
Generic '79 Compilation with some well known names balanced by the more obscure. Even Phil Daniels is on here...Feelgoods buffs will note Lew Lewis' "Lucky Seven", the track that led to Wilko quitting during the "Sneakin Suspicion" recording sessions as he wanted the LP to include his own song "Paradise"...
We are the Mods...

THE CLASH : Shea Stadium, NY, October 1982.

Big thanks & respect to Martin...
Here is what Martin describes as "another storming show..." The Clash, Shea Stadium, New York City, October 16th 1982, where they opened for The Who.
Please leave him a comment or two...
