Still going with punk and still sticking to the city of Pula. This one is legendary KUD Idijoti (dunno how to translate their name, most simple translation would be Cultural Artistic Society Idiots... I guess). This is a bootleg live recording of their gig played at SKC venue, in Belgrade, Serbia back in 1989. I got this one at a New Year's Party from my ex-neighbour. As was pretty drunk, ripped it only so I got no covers to give you, instead I've put the cover of KUD Idijoti's first 7'' ''Bolje izdati ploču nego prijatelja'' (roughly ''It's better to release a vinyl than to betray a friend'', but that is a really rough translation) as I like that cover very much. KUD Idijoti have too long of a history for me to write it all down, so I recommend you use them links below if you want to know more about them. For me personally they are a great band. Info: Official page (in Croatian), MySpace, Last FM, Discogs.

Let's keep it punk with the 2nd post of this year. The band is Reanimacija (Reanimation in English), they come from town of Pula in Croatia and they have this great punk sound mixed with little Oi!. I am old man now and stay next to the bar at gigs these days, but they are one of those bands who would snap me out of my ''oh-i'm-so-old'' kind of self-pity and make me want to jump & pogo. This is their 1st release, they have second one from 2009 called ''SME'' that you can get from Monteparadiso Netlabel, which is also a great release dedicated to sadly dead Sme or Šela, a guy I've met and still miss dearly as we had great times during Monteparadiso Festival back in the 1990's. Respect to Šela, and cheers to guys from Reanimacija for keeping that punk spirit alive! BTW, the rip is not mine, I downloaded FLAC from Monteparadiso and converted it to mp3. Wow, 10 months have passed since my last post. Lots of shit happened in real life, too many to mention it all on here, and I don't see the point anyways, as it's all water under the bridge. I've been checking this blog often, and trying to re-up stuff, and keep it going although I haven't been posting anything new for ages. Also, I want to thank people for leaving comments, I really appreciate it very much folks! Well, let's hope this post will be one of many more to come. It's a CD I got about a month ago, in Močvara club here in Zagreb at some records sale they held there. Ex-Cathedra were a punk/ska band hailing from Glasgow, Scotland. I love the vocals that sound raspy and worn out, like the guy had eaten some sand paper, and also I love the dirty unpolished sound of this band so I was very happy when I got this CD (thnx to BadDan!). What else to say about it? I'll just write down what it says on the back cover: ''Remastered recordings of the original first two EP's ''Stick Together'' & ''Watch Out'' plus more from them years gathered for the first time on one CD.'' Track list is a little bit confusing, but I think i got it right. I also hope you will enjoy this CD, and there is their 7'' ''Karma Chameleon'' on Röckin' Noize if you want to check out more of Ex-Cathedra's stuff. Oh yes, I need to give you all a technical warning thing, I started using 7-zip to compress my files, so if apps you use for unpacking don't work you'll need to get 7-zip (it's free, and can unpack .zip & .rar files). Sorry for that inconvenience, it's just that I decided to use as much of free/open source progs as I can. Info: MySpace, Last FM.

This tape is one of my lucky finds during the recent rummaging thru my archives. Mengele are from Poland, and in spite of a scary name and even more scarier cover (depicting young Jozef Mengele) this is a really weird (in a good way) Polish band that mixes reggae, punk, dub, etc. which makes for interesting sound that sorta reminds me of Words Of Warning bands of that period. They have anti-nazi, anti-homophobic and political lyrics, and they are pretty good if you give them a chance. As I mentioned before, I am quite happy to have dug up this tape from those boxes under my bed, and I hope you'll like them too. Info stuff: Nikt Nic Nie Wie.

Sanctus Iuda were this crust/punk band from town of Białystok in Poland. They play this political, anarchist crust and this tape is a compilation of their spit 7” with Sarcasm and Shapeville, plus studio & live songs. I have no info on Sanctus Iuda, but you can find two of their split 7”'s (and a bit more info), one with Sarcasm and second with Dog On A Rope on Röcking Nöise. Info stuff: last.fm.

Another great tape, this one is a Croatian release of Australian folk-punks Mutiny. This is their first album, it was released (in Croatia) by Marko S. from In Medias Res fanzine (and occasionally label) in cooperation with Humanita Nova label/distro. I think Mutiny were touring Europe at the time of when this tape was released in Croatia, so they also played a gig or two here. Unfortunately I can't recall if I was at their gig here in Zagreb as I was pretty drunk all the time at that period of my life, but I do remember scrounging a beer off them, in return I promised to do a bodgy tat of their band name on myself, but, erm, I am apologizing here, I still haven't done my part of the bargain... Great band, great lyrics, and great energy. Info stuff: Official page, Wikipedia, Discogs, last.fm, MySpace.

Petrograd was already posted on Nečista Savjest, you can check out that post for some more info about the band and their “Nineoneone” album from 2002 here. In short (and it is short as I don't know much about this band), Petrograd is a punk band from Luxembourg and they started playing back in 1996. They have this sound, they are melodic but emotional and political in the same time, I guess if I was to give some smart ass review I would say/compare them to The Weakerthans under influence of European angst... I am bullshiting here, I know, I have said that I don't like doing comparisons and sloting bands in genre drawers, and I am doing it now so screw that, Petrograd are a great band, good personal/political lyrics, music takes you there, and I like them a lot. This tape is Croatian release from Humanita Nova (damn good Croatian label/distro, although I don't know if it is still active) and as you can see on the cover, it is basically Petrograd's “Isobelle” album with bonus tracks from their EP's and split 7”'s. Nations On Fire were a straight edge hardcore band from Belgium. I must admit I don't know anything about them, I bought this tape (which is the Polish release) off some distro, on some gig, on impulse of just liking the cover, as the picture of people holding an upside down American flag and the album's title “Strike The Match” brought a smirk on my face. All in all, Nations on Fire are energetic, political, and they do come from Belgium which as a lot of fine bands, so what more can I say? I have given some info about this band in my previous post, but here it goes again. Krvavi Mandat were a legendary crust/punk band from Zagreb. They played in the second part of the 1990's. I have seen them on gigs from which I have this one funny memory of how while they played it always looked to me like the singer and guitarist will have a fist fight on stage. This is a tape which is a sort of discography of Krvavi Mandat. It has their 2 demos (songs 01-08 are from 1st demo, and songs 09-18 are from the 2nd demo). The tape was released somewhere around 1999 I guess, I am not quite sure of the year, sorry but my memory is sometimes very bad with remembering the exact dates, or years... The tape was released by DHP-AK47 label/distro, I am also not sure if it had a booklet with it, I was unable to find it in my stack of zines and booklets, but if I manage to dig it up someday, I will post it on here too. Info stuff: DHP-AK47 @ MySpace.
Ok, this tape is very dear to me, I used to listen to it a lot back at the time when it came out. It should have been a split tape between S.M.C. (btw, you can find S.M.C.'s split tape with Desinence Mortification in my previous post) and Krvavi Mandat, but I guess as Dado B. who put this release together hated to waste tape, he added Gamad as a bonus on it. S.M.C. were a great crust/grind/punk band from the town of Pula, some folks from S.M.C. are now playing in Bolesno Grinje (a band I recommend checking out if you're interested in crust/hardcore/punk - try their Official page or their MySpace). Krvavi Mandat were from Zagreb and are considered to be one of legendary crust/punk bands from here (I had a lot of requests for uploading them, so I guess they are still remembered). Gamad was a side project band for Tarić, the singer of Krvavi Mandat, and beside this release I think Gamad never released anything else... Well, I hope you will like this post, and like it usually goes with D.I.Y. Croatian tapes from the 1990's, I must warn you that the quality of this recording isn't the best, but if you just play it loudest you can all will be fine (except, maybe, your neighbours will hate you even more).

To download stuff just click on the MediaFire link under the release you want. You'll be re-directed to MediaFire and then you can start your download. The files are stupidly called NS-xxx or something. After you unpack them (use some free app like 7-Zip) you'll have the folder with the stuff you wanted. If any of the links are not working please tell me by posting a comment and I'll try to fix it as soon as possible. Also take notice that some stuff has that Part 1 & Part 2 bit... It means that you will need to download both parts to have the whole release. I am sorry for inconvenience, but that's the way things work for now... Well, that's it from me, see you, stay good everyone!
