Here is a direct quote from Chris Bamberry in the current Socialist Worker - I kid you not!
‘Another falsehood is that Hitler was planning to invade Britain.’
Oh my aching sides – COMRADES PLEASE SPREAD THIS QUOTE FAR AND WIDE!!!
IS THIS TRULY THE STUPIDEST THING EVER WRITTEN IN SOCIALIST WORKER?

When I talked of linking up with community groups opposing some aspects of the 2012 Olympics it wasn’t to indicate we would run a killjoy campaign but to support those oposing what are patently bad developments for people in East London. One such is the SAVE WANSTEAD FLATS campaign. The City of London Corporation are prposing to build an operations centre for the City of London police on Wanstead flats despite local opposition.Already Walthamstow Anarchists and Action East End are involved with the campaign. Here’s details of the mass picnic on the site on Sunday September 5th – I urge you all to come along.
MASS COMMUNITY PICNIC – Sunday 5 September2010.
ALL WELCOME at 1pm on the spot to the west of Centre Road where the police want to site their Olympic operations base in 2012. Ever since over 250 people attended a packed public meeting in July, residents living near Wanstead Flats have been demanding answers about plans by the City of London Corporation to allow the Metropolitan Police to base its Olympics operational centre on the Flats in 2012. In order to push this proposal through, the Corporation would need to amend an Act of Parliament that has protected Wanstead Flats from enclosure and development for well over a century.
Local people want to know why the proposed site for this police base, west of Centre Road, has been chosen, how that decision was made and why the Olympic stadium site itself cannot be used. There has been no consultation, even though the plans involve locating a fenced, high-security compound – with buildings, parking areas, stables and apparently even police holding cells – for at least 120 days and so close to residential neighbourhoods.
The Save Wanstead Flats campaign is organised by local people and on Sunday 5 September, we’d like to invite you to show your opposition to the City of London Corporation’s plans by joining us for a picnic – occupying the very spot where the police operations base would be constructed.

Here’s an early photo of the LIVING LEGENDS in Swansea. I was trying to hype up the band to a credulous reporter from the Welsh Arts magazine Arcade when we suddenly rounded a corner and found this graffitti on a wall. Incredible co-incidence.Besides me pouting seductively in leather jacket there are featured Cat Tastrophe ( formerly Shelley Crescent of Page 3) Stan of the AUTONOMES, legendary Swansea axeman Wizzy wearing non-hip denim jacket and Sticksman Kevin.

Well fair play to the coalition. I look through my new diary for 2011 and find that January 3rd – 100 years since the Siege of Sidney Street – is to be a Public Holiday.Fantastic. Well done Nick Clegg. To celebrate the great event I suggest we all meet at Freedom Press in the Anarchist Edwardian costume of the time and parade down Whitechapel High Street to Sidney Street where we re-eact the siege and retire to LARC – dressed up as the Jubilee Club – for an evening of merriment and tomfoolery. In the meantime here’s details of the London Docklands museum exhibition wherethe REAL ACTUAL MAUSERS used by our comrades will be on display.

In this display we remember

One of my bright ideas for direct action against the Olympic VIP lanes from the Dorchester in Park Lane is to get a charabanc (max speed 20mph) load of Pearly Kings and Queens to pull out in front of them. Will the cops trash our east end royalty in full view of the world’s cameras. Photo above of me with Pearly King and Queen of Canning Town – they just insisted on having their photo taken with me.
Patrick tells me this story:
I have a story which both my mother & auntie told me a long time ago. On the day of my birth my auntie was over here in London right outside St Mary Le Bow church in fact, she was on the phone to my mother who was screaming down the phone, as she was giving birth me at the City Hospital Belfast, behing my auntie were the Bow Bells ringing loudly, “it’s a boy” said my mother then asked what all the bells ringing on about? My auntie responded “it’s the Bow Bells, Betty.
So my question is: If one is born within the sound of the Bow Bells, does that make me the one and only Pearly King of Belfast?

The Guardian has been doing a live feed on it’s website of Climate Camp’s ‘DAY OF ACTION’ in Edinburgh just as it did for Glastonbury which it also sponsors. There’s not much for them to report – five protestors here, another seven there – pouring vegetable oil on the roads( no me neither mate). Nowhere near the expected or past numbers. Most people think it’s a festival fringe event. No wonder. It’s difficult to see any way forward for Climate Camp now.

Here’s the photo you’ve all been asking for – it is of course the instantly recognisable disused refridgeration building at the Fray Bentos museum in Uruguay. One of the world’s iconic buildings I think you’ll agree. The Fray Bentos factory closed in the mid 1970′s after exports to England contaied salmonella and killeed several people in Yorkshire.
I was well interested to hear from Ray Hulm that he knows the couple running the museum on South Georgia and from Dean Talent that he’s been there. Top work comrades. Anybody been to Fray Bentos?
