'Choose Nuclear Free' Website Launched Today
www.choosenuclearfree.net is being launched by Friends of the Earth and the Medical Association for Prevention of War. The website contains a wide range of resources − details of political parties' nuclear policies and an animated policy graphic; a summary of key nuclear issues; videos, cartoons and music; and election-related resources to help Australians who 'Choose Nuclear Free'.
Launch of the Nuclear Freeways campaign
This Friday July 30th marks the launch of Friends of the Earths Nuclear Freeways campaign. A delegation of Friends of the Earth members and Batman electorate residents will travel over 3,000ks on one of the proposed routes for the transport for Australia's radioactive waste.

Underground coal gasification plants must all be shut down now
The decision by the Department of Resource Management to shut down Cougar Energy's underground coal gasification (UCG) plant at Kingaroy is welcome but far too late. In fact, this plant and two others like it should never have been given the go-ahead by the Queensland Government in the first place given what is known (and what is not known) about the impacts of this technology.

Feast of Film, film festival in Adelaide
Friends of the Earth's Feast of Film, a film festival about good food and farming, is back for 2010! Over six weeks, the Feast of Film will offer fortnightly screenings (on July 31, August 14 and 28) of some of the best international films about good food, agriculture and community, including the very special August 28 world premiere of `An Urban Orchard', a celebration of food gardening and sharing on the Adelaide Plains.

Unions, community groups want safeguards for health, environment and labour rights in US-Trans Pacific trade pact
Thirty Australian unions and community groups today asked the Trade Minister to safeguard the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, Australian local content in media, regulation of GE food, regulation of foreign investment and industry policies that support local employment in the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) negotiations which start on Monday March 15.
