High Court decision a blow to racist refugee policy

On November 11, the High Court found that aspects of the government’s offshore processing regime were unlawful. The unanimous decision dealt a blow to a racist policy established by the Howard government in 2001 and supported and continued by Labor – but there is still more to be done to end the current regime of detention.
