Digbeth O’Lympics – Sunday 20th September 2009 – Oh yes, the local sporting mayhem is back. So put Sun 20th Sept in your diaries for the Digbeth O’Lympics. It seems to have grown quite sizably in scale this year, with a long list of pubs playing host to the madness:
Here’s some highlights of the lovely garden party at The Spotted Dog last Thursday evening – Muchuu playing their particular brand of loveliness and our very own John Mostyn holding a raffle, ably assisted by the beautiful Claire Burgess.
Now my poor Flip cannot quite capture the sweet sounds of Muchuu, so please check out their website for the full, fantastic effect.
Birmingham Jazz » Blog Archive » Autumn Programme Launch – Birmingham Jazz are holding a free party at their new home Fazeley Studios, Digbeth on Wednesday 16th September at 7.30pm, with some great live jazz from the Hans Koller Trio to launch their Autumn Season 09 Programme.
Return of Pong | BARG – The brilliant Market Pong is back on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st of August in Birmingham Outdoor Market from 3pm ‘until we decide we’re exhausted and decide to go to the pub or something.’
Same deal as last time: you can buy a 2-paddle ping pong set from Poundland or similar; all welcome; the tables are sort of under-cover so we’re moderately weather-proof, but do bring plenty of fluids ‘cos it’s very energetic.
Ping pong is just the starting point: we’ll obviously be improvising and inventing as we go along, so if you have any other accoutrements that you think would be useful, please feel free to bring them along. The only restrictions are the basics like being nice, staying safe and not causing any damage to anything that doesn’t belong to you.
This caught my eye today and is definitely something I’m planning going to try and get to, from what I’ve heard of Mama Matrix and Laura Louise this is bound to be a good one.
Mama Matrix who have performed at our 1st Birthday, & the gigbeth Fringe event with CiD Music, and Laura Louise who also blew people’s minds at our 2nd Birthday will be appearing on Saturday 22nd August 2009 @ the Adam & Eve in Digbeth, Birmingham.
Lincolnshire-based Spencer has stepped in to complete the £15 million redevelopment after the collapse of the previous developer Ashford Construction left the flagship scheme half-finished.
The coach station’s operator National Express said the new hub is still planned to open to the public on schedule at the beginning of December in time for the Christmas holidays.
Muchuu – The cute-as-button band Muchuu are performing in the Spotted Dog at a garden party this Thurs 20th August from 8.30pm. I’ve seen them perform live and trust me, their gorgeous pop is really sweet treat for the years – check out their music on their website if you’re in any doubt and come along if you can.
