About the site
The Bishopthorpe dot net web site is created by local people to provide information, news and comments about local affairs in Bishopthorpe, Middlethorpe and Acaster Malbis.
A Bish dot net team of volunteers has built the framework of the site - but anyone can join in and put something online.
The site has been funded by the Millennium Trust, by private donations, and most recently by a grant from the City of York Council Ward Committee.
Who is it for?
The site aims to benefit the local community.
The site has three main audiences. First, there are ourselves, the people who live here - including newcomers and past residents. Second, there are prospective visitors and residents. And third there are those who are interested from outside - such as family history researchers, those in the local media or government, relatives and friends.

But there is no editorial policy, and no ties to specific organisations, and no wish to exercise editorial control. Each author or commenter is entirely responsible for his or her own content. Where applicable Copyright liabilities are made explicit.
The policy is explained in the Acceptable Use Policy that can be downloaded here.
