A note to our readers
Friday, 15 October 2010

I still have some personal matters to attend to in foreign parts for a little while, but rest assured, we will return to full service here at SteynOnline very soon. And I hope to see you on the road, from Ottawa to Minneapolis, over the next few weeks - even if Miles Hopper is stifling his yawns.

While I'm away, don't miss our friends at Ricochet and National Review for all the latest on the US election campaign. And, if you want a break from the grind of current events, dial up our podtastic audio specials for a ton of great entertainment - or prowl around the remoter corners of the site, for some favorite pieces on music, movies, people and places.

See you soon,

Mark

"CONTROVERSIAL AUTHOR" LEADS TO SOMNOLENT ARTICLE
Strange that this newspaper does not see fit to inform its readers that its principal interviewee, Faisal Joseph, was, in fact, the Canadian Islamic Congress' lawyer in the Maclean's/Steyn trial. More on the controversy over the controversially controversial author here - and here.

STEYN LIVE
CANADIAN MINI-TOUR!
Later this month Mark will be making a trio of appearances in the demented Dominion - and joining eminent guests along the way, from Ezra Levant to Howard Dean and Fred Thompson. And in November he'll be coming to Minneapolis. More details here. These will be Mark's final public appearances for the year.

MOLLIFYING MUSLIMS, AND MUSLIFYING MOLLIES

While I've been talking about free speech in Copenhagen, several free speech issues arose in North America. I was asked about them both at the Sappho Award event and in various interviews, so here's a few thoughts for what they're worth: Too many people in the free world have internalized...

AUTUMN LEAVES

Song of the Week by Joseph Kosma, Jacques Prévert and Johnny Mercer This essay is adapted from Mark's book A Song For The Season: A truly great song for the season isn’t about the calendar, or the weather. It’s about the seasons of life and love. In spring a young man’s fancy...
