The Ubu Hour reached a new low this Membership Drive with the following pledge pitch, which sounds more like the come-on to a phone sex line than to become a member of a community radio station. Heavy breathing and moaning, creaking bed springs, seductive voices urging you to call the number (in this case the air room number, since the regular phone answers fled the building as soon as the show began to air) Normally KBOO doesn't post audio of people asking for donations, but because this one is so utterly dispicable, in using eroticism to lure potential members, that we decided to post it so that other people could see just how low the Ubu Hour is willing to stoop... Please do not call the phone number..
For the love of community radio, Christine Havrilla and Jacob $hue return to our studios to play more live music. This duo rocked our studios a couple of weeks ago, and tonight they'll have the mics for most of the show! Christine & Jacob start off the show with Blinders from Christine's CD "Velocity".
Sasha interviews Violet from the Trans Women's Heart Circle, and they talk about Violet's work in our community.
This peice was a soundfile discovered in Richard Francis's folder on the KBOO computer system. Richard was a long-time host of A Different Nature, here at KBOO, as well as the main person behind the various Dada and Surrealism Festivals we've had. He was a wonderful person, who is really missed, since he passed away in Sept of 2009.
Another episode of the City That Once Worked, brought to you by Ubu Incorporated.. More hilarious political material, as Roy and Viv Ubu battle their corporate sponsors and even take on Glenn Bleck...
Another peice discovered in the Richard Francis archives.. Not much is known about it.. We were short on material here at the Ubu Hour, so what the hell, we decided to run it..
Annie Vernetti is a local singer songwriter (also coffee shop owner, look up her last name yo). She has many talents, including song writing on the spot. Give her 3 words (and some whiskey) and you'll have a new song! Here's what she made up for our Butch Voices show.
