As KBOO's new web coordinator, one of my top priorities is to continue to encourage inclusive and decentralized contributions from the many. We want you on our team as we continue to build rich content, accessible functionality, unique design and interactive opportunities. The potential for growth is tremendous when we consider all that we have to share.
I'm sad to announce that this is my last month here at KBOO, as I will be moving away to be with family. I've found a wonderful second family here at the station and I hope that my time here has been a positive contribution.
While leaving will be difficult, I'm very happy we have selected Dan Gurin to take over my position and continue taking KBOO into the digital realm. At the beginning of the year, KBOO joined WFMU, KEXP and a handful of other stations for an experiment that challenged the basic rule of the recording industry since its foundation: you must pay for music.
I wasn't quite sure how musicians would react to the premise of the Free Music Archive - an interactive online library of free high-quality, legal audio downloads. Only a few big names like Radiohead are known for embracing this idea. But I did know that music lovers - the only reason a music industry exists - would be all over it.
