African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) president Julius Malema now has until Monday to pay the R50 000 fine ordered by the Equality Court, a spokesperson for the group that took Malema to court said on Friday. Mbuyiselo Botha, of the Sonke Gender Justice Network, said the sheriff of the court had indicated that a planned seizure of Malema assets would not take place on Friday. "Our lawyers, together with the sheriff, have decided that they will only be able to execute it on Monday morning," he said. "That will give them a chance until Monday if they want to pay the fine, or apologise." Malema was found guilty of hate speech and harassment by the court in March over comments he made about President Jacob Zuma's rape accuser. He was fined R50 000, to be paid to a women's rights organisation within a month and ordered to apologise publicly within two weeks of the ruling. He lodged an appeal against the order but the time period in which the appeal had to be "prosecuted" lapsed on July 14, said Sonke. "While under oath, Malema said he would abide by any ruling given by the Equality Court. As the time for appealing has passed, Malema now needs to make good on the ruling and his word," said Botha. He said a writ of execution had been issued by the sheriff for attachment of R50 000-worth of Malema's property. Further action Sonke was prepared to take further action if he failed to apologise. CONTINUES BELOW Youth League spokesperson Floyd Shivambu referred the South African Press Association to Malema's lawyer, who was not immediately available for comment. Sonke's complaint came after Malema's statement at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology on January 22 2009. He said of women making accusations of rape that "when a woman didn't enjoy it, she leaves early in the morning. Those who had a nice time will wait until the sun comes out, request breakfast and ask for taxi money". This was seen as a reference to the woman who had accused President Zuma of rape. Zuma was acquitted but the organisation was concerned about the stereotypes around women who say they have been raped. During the hearing, Malema called Sonke "Mickey Mouses" funded by white people. -- Sapa TOPICS IN THIS ARTICLE

This person is an insult to humanity.....swore under oath.....what a laugh.....if you have no morals ethics or values an oath is meaningless. Notice the deadly silence from his mentor Tata Zuma. Two peas in a pod it seems. What a fiasco....

He will wait until the last minute then he will pay. But take my word he will never apologise. It is the ANC way.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
Martin Luther King, Jr. It is actually "frigtening" to think that 16 yeears down the line we have imbeciles like Malema, hellbent on his own mission of divide and destruction.

Who indeed will pay up the R50,000 for the General of the Breitling Brigade? The next SS* comrade in arms? [*clue: has a brother employed in the same position as 007 originally employed by M16] The tree and the apple come to mind!! And remember we have saints not earning more than R20k a month

The sheriff is a let-down - why the chance? The writ says R50,000 worth of property. Selling the watch, several vehicles and the pad could raise 50k from bargain hunters.

If he doesn't pay the fine, they should attach his vehicles and make him use public transport. Just imagine how this guy survives in the "wild" without his former body guards.

Guys
This demand to pay R50 000 is unjust, unfair and very unwise. He is being persecuted by his enemies... (I wish I was being ironic) What makes it also extremely unwise and very dangerous is that he is an African Strongman. Someone WILL pay with their lives for this stupidity... What will the final score be, someone else MAY pay his fine... or NOT but some other person, a good person, worried about our country’s future will die! I sometimes feel we would do better just allowing this disgusting ANC lesion to fester, turn gangrenous and smell. The whites/Indians/Coloureds will get out and the blacks will get their Zimbabwe, right here in SA. We spent 15 years trying to persuade black Zimbabwe what monster they had created and the more we warned, the stronger was Bob’s support. Now that they come crying for help, it’s probably time to remind Zimbabweans who put Bob there. “We warned you, NOW FIX IT YOURSELF” It is time to stop troubling our black brothers with the obvious. We have certainly passed the point-of-no-return and a failed SA state approaches us like a freight train in the night! Time to consider our own positions and leave the popular majority to the Hyena Party... It’s time to say “This is your party, enjoy the hangover tomorrow but remember we’re not going to be here to give you any aspirin”. Yes, I accept that the White Afrikaaner has been in South Africa 70 years longer than Xhosa and almost 90 years longer than the Zulu. I fully appreciate that this is the Afrikaaner homeland, if being an African is important, then the Afrikaaner has substantially more right to it than many Bantu races. There are unfortunately some things you can’t avoid. The vast majority of Jews in Germany couldn’t emigrate in 1932 – 1939 and they paid the ultimate price, the extermination of their nation. Afrikaaners, DON’T LET THAT HAPPEN TO YOU...

Some people are clinging to the past with their dear lives, it is people like those that South Africa does not need, for God's sake it is 2010 and not the 1860's. It is funny that that they find every stupid excuse to liken South Africa to any failed and corrupt African country. I am sure some open minded individuals would agree that "one swallow does not make summer"
Malema was found guilty not the ANC.

Malema's proportions are more like a goose than a swallow
- and he is about to be cooked.

@ John Bond - It is the similarities to Mugabe that instils fear into all free-thinking, freedom loving South Africans both black and white. Malema should have paid up on time or have further fines issued. The leniency in dealing with this problem is the worrying aspect. So too is Malema's total disregard for the very people he is suppossed to be aiding. Its not just the whites that consider uprooting, it is the well educated blacks, who seem to read the writing on the wall and understand what is coming down the line more so than the ethnic minorities, and it is they who are leaving.

@ Sue,
Sue, makes sense. We should then cease to stop people at speed traps. Maybe they will drive slower when they see the speed traps ??? !!! ...

The ANC circus strike again. This guy is an absolute embarrassment to South Africa and to the ANC. What hold he has over Zuma , another monkey in clothes, who should have been buried long ago. Bring back Mbeki, at least he was as dignified and quiet in his being as our beloved Tata Madiba.
