It would happen to me that right as I started talking about Lupe today, a new single by Lupe comes out. Sometimes I swear I'm psychic. Anyway, here's a new single by Lupe where he samples "Float On" by Modest Mouse. If you ask me, this is totally his record label, Atlantic Records , making him do this one. If you're unaware of the whole fiasco (no pun intended) between Lupe and Atlantic, I recommend clicking here to read the story. This song sounds like a desperate attempt to get on the radio, which always seems to [...]

All Time Low played Irving Plaza in New York City on Friday night. Our photographer Kevin Kerosene was there to grab some awesome shots of the band. Check them out inside:
This may be stating the obvious, but Chicago could have the best Hip-Hop scene in the country. If they're not #1, then definitely top three because their track record proves such. The list includes Common , Kanye , Twista , Cons , GLC , the L.E.P. Bogus Boys and bending the rules allows Freddie Gibbs to be included since Gary is essentially Chi-Town's next door neighbor. A name you may not recognize, however, is AmilCAR . I first met Amil about two and a [...]
Rihanna isn't just the spokeswoman for Doritos Late Night , she's also the face of Marie Claire UK 's final issue of 2010. The "Only Girl (In The World)" singer's spread features the songstress in pale pink, white and silver ensembles which perfectly compliment her fiery red locks. The Battleship star opened up about the metamorphosis she's undergone this year, and credits the making of Rated R for her maintained sanity. Flip through to peep the pics of Rihanna posing to perfection.
Ross Flournoy was bowed but not broken when his indie-pop band the Broken West disintegrated more than a year ago. "I had no idea what I was going to do," he said of his year of stewing, soul-searching and, eventually, songwriting. "Being on Merge , it's not like you break up your band and then you automatically get a new deal." He had sequestered himself and worked on a few new songs, "but I'd been in a bit of a funk," he says — until he read Carrie Brownstein's "Monitor Mix" column on NPR, in [...]
Our friends at Forest Family just announced the repress of their first release for Cults ' debut 73 "Go Outside" on black vinyl. Pepper Rabbit The fellas of Pepper Rabbit crossed my path sitting at the bar at Lil' Frankies last week in New York. I had noticed their name on a bill and heard a few other friends speak of them but when I found myself chatting with them coincidentally I knew I had to check them out. Clearly it was fate for me to find their spectacular music. These arrangements are smart and draw from a diverse array of inspiration; from Bayou funeral processions to Southeast Asian standards. The lyrics were [...]
It's been a couple of years but Tahiti 80 will return with a new album called "The Past, The Present & The Possible", it's out February 22nd on their newly formed 'Human Sounds' label. We're posting a track from their recently released "Solitary Bizness" EP, it's called "Keys To The City" and it's their typical dreamy and warm pop loveliness that is perfect for this time of year. I know some of you bastards will start making a fuss over the fact that Daft Punk have made their way onto this website a few times. There are three reasons for that: they're one of the best electronic duos of all time, they started out as rockers with members of Phoenix in a band called Darlin' and, finally, they're motherfucking Daft Punk. That being said, up top is a music video/trailer for their song "Derezzed" and for the film Tron: Legacy . This could be the first time I ever recommend you turn [...]

We heard from a few sources earlier in the week that ElectroPunks Crystal Castles were releasing, as a future single, a version of 'Not In Love', from their second self-titled album, that would feature the vocals of The Cure frontman Robert Smith. Well here it is! It's actually a lot better than I thought it would be, somehow it just works. Robert Smith's unmistakable voice sits atop Crystal Castles' noisy electronics surprisingly well. It may have been one of CC's poppier songs to begin with but I wasn't expecting the collaboration to sound so [...]
You see this folks; this is what you do to succeed. I'm not sure how many of you remember the MTV series "Buzzin" which followed around the emcee Shwayze and producer Cisco Adler. As I see by your shrugging of the shoulders and "I have no clue what the f*ck you're talking about Marc" look, you have no idea what I'm talking about. Arguably so because the show lasted only 8 episodes and "poof" gone. Well, the artist formerly known as Shwayze, has dropped the a.k.a and is rocking the simplistic Aaron Smith. Don't be [...]
Mientras tú dormías, Carla Morrison Cosmica Records, México Rating: 94 ★★★★ 1/2 by Juan Manuel Torreblanca Have you ever closed your eyes and, instead of pure darkness, found luminous clouds of color? Or unexpected geometric shapes? Has it ever happened to you that a scent in the air takes you back to how someone's skin used to feel, or how the sun felt on yours that distant summer you first fell in [...]
Don Giovanni Records recently announced that they will be releasing a new Black Wine 7" titled Dark Energy . The three song effort will include a song sung by each member of the band. Interesting. Anyway, the new release from the NJ grunge band is expected to drop sometime in December. Check out their song "Pick At Pieces", which will appear on the 7" below. Black Wine - Pick at Pieces
Here's another track from Roland P Young's classic outsider jazz opus, Isophonic Boogie Woogie . It's the work of a true original. Row Land is a solo piece for electronic bass clarinet, where that most sonorous of all instruments gets get another layer of yawning ache from some sleazy phrasing and fx. Young manages to segue from that into some unheard-of minimalism/blues combo. Maybe, just maybe, some of work that was done here was followed up on by Don Li and the Tonus-Records crew over the last decade. But apart from that, [...]
