StatusNet Launches Cloud Service Premium Plans
Montreal, Thursday, 23 September 2010 - StatusNet Inc. today released premium features for its StatusNet Cloud service. The 30,000 networks currently running on the company's software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform may upgrade today to get additional features and further control.
"Enterprise users are looking for alternatives to high-priced, inflexible microblogging systems," says Evan Prodromou, CEO of StatusNet. "Our premium features released today make the StatusNet cloud a competitive product that puts control back into the hands of IT professionals."
The private plan for the StatusNet Cloud is designed for companies that want employees to collaborate in a secure environment. It has all the great microblogging features users expect, including hashtags, groups, search, and threaded conversations. The premium features include unlimited users, theme uploads, and mapping URLs to custom domains. Premium pricing is a flat US$1/user/month.
Other plans include the single-user plan (US$10.95) for brands and bloggers to broadcast their status into the social Web, and the community plan (US$24.95), that lets organizations invite unlimited users to public discussions.
All plans include the StatusNet mobile clients for Android, iPhone and the StatusNet desktop client for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux.
"StatusNet works in your own network as well as on our hosted service," says Prodromou. "It's the SaaS platform that you can take home with you."
