such a heavenly way to die ...
Little things I should have said and done ... indeed!
A great moment here from erstwhile King Of Convenience, Erlend's fascinating DJ Kicks collection from some moons back.
Here he transposes the seminal “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” over a New Order-esque instrumental remix of Röyksopp’s “Poor Leno” (on the original of which, Erlend provided vocals, of course) by Silikon Soul.
"There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" is an enduringly great song from the Smiths sublime swansong "The Queen Is Dead", where Morissey's awesome anguished lyrics of desperate, nigh-suicidal. manic longing magically mesh with Marr's mellifluous melodies.
And here, that beautiful beast meets subdued electronica head-on.
Although the original is the most fragile of songs, the result here is gorgeous.
I'm not too happy however, about the removal of the lines "
to die by your side, well the pleasure, the privilege is mine" - lines that gave the original an even greater essence of Englishness!
