CHINA: 'RELEASED' ACTIVIST HELD UNDER HOUSE ARREST

Despite being released from prison on 9 September human rights activist Chen Guangcheng is still not free. Since his release, he and his family have been held under strict house arrest. They are denied visitors and are unable to go out even to buy food. Chen Guangcheng’s health seriously deteriorated while he was in prison and Amnesty is concerned that he is not being given urgently needed medical attention.
