The flatness and subtle groove of the keys is just right. It makes technology a little more organic. -

Move-It: the stick-on recyclable cardboard trolley (video)
If you're rockin' the suburbs, chances are your Suburban comes in handy when making those weekend jaunts to Home Depot. But if you're a city dweller, particularly one who has to make his / her way up and down subway stairs, things are just a tad more difficult when it comes to transporting purchases. Enter Move-It, a bloody brilliant concept that has currently been entered into the running for the James Dyson Award in the UK. Put simply, this recyclable, disposal and potential reusable device is crafted from cardboard and fully capable of strapping to any size or shape box. Simply peel and stick the handle to the box's top, and slap a pair of rollers on the bottom -- in about three minutes, you've got your very own trolley. Prayers, answered. Hop on past the break for a video demonstration, and hopefully the collective crossing of fingers will enable this thing to actually hit the market someday soon.

June 19, 02:42 PMI come across a lot of articles about nice interior design, but this one really caught my eye as a style and atmosphere I'd actually want in my abode. I love the mix of warm wood, white light furniture and the fancy chandelier. From Design Sponge.

Saw these on Design Milk. Stemless tumblers from Riedel, I love the shape, spring colors, and how they'll help you know which glass is yours. -

June 19, 03:10 PMIt's a beautiful, almost hot, day in San Francisco. I'm headed off to Canada tomorrow for the beginning of my long vacation. A full two weeks, longest I've taken off since starting work.
Yesterday I read School for Adventurers yesterday, written and published by my friends KL and JLY. Also beautifully illustrated by KMRicker. It's quite the page-turner with interesting characters and a fairly well fleshed-out world. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Also had Japanese tapas for the first time with some coworkers. We went to Gochi in Cupertino and it was absolutely delicious. Some highlights were the clay pot with rice and eel, pizza with crab, shittake mushrooms, various deep fried treats and a salad with sliced beef and a particularly tasty sesame dressing. :) -
June 16, 09:53 PMJessie sent me a link to this the other day and it's awesome. Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that can be used to wrap/transport all kinds of goods and gifts. Much more environmentally friendly than disposable bags, and more versatile than a regular bag (provided you know how to knot/wrap it properly). I used to wrap presents in scarves I had lying around when I realized last minute that I didn't have any wrapping paper. Stores that sell them also have some really lovely patterns.

June 15, 11:24 PMThings I am thinking about cooking and/or eating.
Japanese bento box lunches. My cousin has started collecting boxes and making them for lunch everyday. They're ridiculously cute and elaborate. More time than I would ever spend on a regular basis, a lot of them seem to be made by Moms with a lot of time on their hands. But I love looking at pictures of them and learning about how it's done.
Macaroni and cheese, something not from a box or a chain restaurant, which is pretty much the only kind I've had.
A really good cheeseburger. I like In-N-Out and have been to a few places that are pretty good, but I always feel like the patty itself is not properly seasoned and relies on sauce or ketchup. But then again, I like things a little saltier.
Crepes, crossaints and other French baked goods. Definitely looking forward to eating lots of them in Montreal and Quebec in a week. Must remember to look up some places to check out beforehand as my iPhone plan doesn't extend to Canada :(.
Looking at food blogs is making me hungry...
