On Friday 26th of November 2010 for Against Gravity at the ICA, Matthew Stone has devised a new performance, titled Anatomy of Immaterial Worlds.

Stemming from his interest in shamanism, it includes an immersive and hypnotic musical score, dance, opera and computer generated video. Part cathartic spectacle and part sensory-deprived ecstacy technique, Anatomy of Immaterial Worlds is designed to depict and then invoke a metaphysical journey.

Crunch: the art festival and music at hay returns for a weekend of thought-provoking
debate, incisive talks and late-night parties. An eclectic set of artists, philosophers,
writers, film-makers and musicians will congregate in Hay to debate the big question:
what’s the point of art?

Among a host of others, you’ll have the chance to engage with human rights activist
Bianca Jagger, White Cube’s Marc Quinn, best-selling author Sarah Thornton,
Serpentine Director Julia Peyton-Jones, BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz, Turner prize
winning artist Martin Creed, ICA Director Ekow Eshun and Costa Prize-winning
novelist AL Kennedy.

Crunch 2010 will also be welcoming The Tate’s Great British Art Debate Tent with
a mix of solo talks, conversations, music and entertainment. And for the first time ever,
Crunch will be showing, and selling, work by some of the UK’ s leading artistic talent and
galleries at the Crunch Art Fair. All served up with winter-warming mulled cider, hog
roasts and nightly displays of pyrotechnic wizardry.

This year’s late night music line-up includes folk-siren Laura Marling, band of the
moment Man Like Me, fashion-icons The Broken Hearts and music genii Clean
Bandit, among others.

For a century beauty has been out of fashion. Could it be on the way back? Some have
argued that as the pessimism and brutality of the YBA era recedes, a new dawn of beauty
is rising once again in British art. If so, is this indicative of a deep human desire for
beauty, or a superficial antidote to the darkening external climate?
