Iron Sky: Nazi Moon Bases, Udo Kier, and Laibach

I've been lazy about posting on the blog for a while now, BUT this was just too sick to pass up.

Everyone (or at least myself) enjoys a good conspiracy theory, and there's some pretty crazy ones about the Nazis out there.

Such theories have long been ripe for a cinematic treatment, and thanks to a group of Finnish filmmakers they will finally get their day on the silver screen in Iron Sky. And if that wasn't cool enough on its own the movie is going to feature cult actor Udo Kier (Rob Zombie's Halloween, Suspiria) and music by industrial legends Laibach!

Check out the new teaser trailer below, and read Vice Magazine's recent interview with director Timo Vuorensola here.

UPDATE: Just found a video interview with the director from the Cannes Film Festival:

Porn Star Running for Senate? As a Republican!?

According to Politico porn star Stormy Daniels is considering a run for Senate. She'll be making her decision known to the world on April 15th, and if she runs she'll be doing so as a... drum roll please... REPUBLICAN!

You can get the whole story here, or watch a recent segment the Rachel Maddow Show did on this below:

Personally, I'm hoping this libertarian-leaning hottie runs. A porn star on Capitol Hill sounds a hell of a lot better to me than another crooked career politician.

Band Covers Process Church Hymns in Upcoming Album

Wow, this one completely went under the radar for me:
Restored to One is a modern response to the musical activities of a cult known as The Process Church of the Final Judgment, who used music to spread their visions of Gnostic reconciliation in a time of cataclysmic change. Sabbath Assembly has re-charged the original hymns of The Process Church and worked them into moving renditions that unite the trinity of rock, psychedelic and gospel into one triumphant re-awakening.

A musical tribute to one of the most enigmatic cults of the 60's? Count me in for buying a copy when this gets released June 22, 2010!

Potent Jungle Vine Brew Has Potential to Treat Addiction
Researchers say ayahuasca, found in the Peruvian rainforest, could be used for a variety of ailments

Erika Celeste | Iquitos, Peru

New research suggests ayahuasca, a jungle vine found in the Peruvian rainforest, can have a powerful effect on the human central nervous system when brewed with other plants. Researchers say one of ayahuasca's most promising uses could be in treating drug and alcohol addiction.

According to the World Health Organization, medicines derived from plants play a major role in the health care of 80 percent of the world's population. Western medicine has synthesized many of these natural drugs, from the painkillers in willow bark to the anti-cancer compounds in the neem tree, and is constantly searching for more pharmaceuticals in the biodiversity of the world's forests.
