Blog Catalog is the premiere social blog directory on the internet. Whether you're looking to promote your own blog, find blogs on various topics, or connect with other bloggers this site is for you.

You can submit your Blog by going to the Submit A Blog page. Once your blog has been submitted, it will be reviewed by a member of the BlogCatalog Team. Generally the process takes no longer than 24 hours. However, depending upon the circumstances it can take up to 48 hours.

You can update your blog information anytime by going to the Manage A Blog page and clicking the 'Manage' link next to the blog you wish to update.

You can update your personal profile through your Account Information page.

Blog Rank - a special formula that analyzes your hits, views, comments, neighborhood members and other special secret ingredients to create a numeric score based on a 100 point scale. Your Blog Rank is primarily used to determine the order blogs appear in our Directory and Search Results. The higher your score the better your placement.

Views - The number of unique visitors that have looked at your BlogCatalog listing

Hits - The number of unique visitors that have clicked through to your blog from BlogCatalog.

If you have an approved blog, you can access the Thumbshot Management tool by going to the Manage A Blog page and clicking the 'Manage' link next to the blog you wish to update. You can request a thumbshot update once every two weeks.

BlogCatalog uses Autodiscovery to determine your Blog's RSS Feed and crawl your site for recent posts. If your autodiscovery tags are not properly set up, or your feed is invalid, your most recent posts will not show up on your blog listing.

Common Issues:

Check your autodiscovery tags. If your autodiscovery tags are missing, pointing to a dead URL, or redirecting improperly, BlogCatalog will not be able to index your feed.

If using FeedBurner, make sure you have the 'Event Feed' setting disabled. We will only index feeds that are in reverse chronological order.

If using Blogger/BlogSpot, make sure your site feed redirection settings are set up properly. If you are not using a third-party service to process your feed make sure the 'Post Feed Redirect URL' field is left blank.

For best results, make sure your feed is output in either RSS 2.0 or Atom 1.0 format.

BlogCatalog will typically crawl an approved blog every 24 hours. If you would like to update your recent posts sooner you can use the Feed Management tool located in the Manage section.

You can also use BlogCatalog's XML-RPC interface to automatically ping BlogCatalog from within your weblog software. Simply add http://rpc.blogcatalog.com/ into your weblog software's configuration for Pings and Notifications.

You can add your Blogger's Choice Awards Brag Badge by going to the Manage A Blog page and clicking the 'Manage' link next to the blog you wish to update. Enter your Blogger's Choice Awards voting URL and Category and your brag badge will be added instantly
