Resuming ties with U.S. is easy, Ahmadinejad says
Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said it would not be difficult to resume relations between Iran and the United States.
“The conditions are easy” for resuming ties, Ahmadinejad said in a video conference with American academics, when asked whether Iran and the U.S. could open embassies in each other’s capitals.
The Iranian president added, “All the U.S. government has to do is to respect the Iranian nation and accept equal conditions in relations.”
-------‘Seeking peace through war is a big lie’
In a meeting with anti-war coalitions in New York on Tuesday, Ahmadinejad said those who claim to establish peace through wars are the “greatest liars of history.”
“Peace without justice is meaningless,” Ahmadinejad stated.
Without doubt the majority of people in the U.S. are in favor of peace and justice, but unfortunately a deceitful group is trying to present itself as the majority, he noted.
------‘Iran welcomes talks with West’
President Ahmadinejad also met with a number of U.S. reporters on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.
The president said Iran welcomes negotiations over its nuclear issue based on justice and mutual respect.
Ahmadinejad added the Islamic Republic is ready for dialogue, adding it is probable that the talks will begin in the near future.
