Urban golf punks putting charity to the fore

GOD knows what Tiger Woods or Greg Norman would make of it.
But the 65 urban golfers raising money for charity in Newcastle this morning probably couldn't have cared less.
They were taking part in the Australian leg of World Urban Golf Day, with proceeds going to Sydney's Youth Off The Streets charity, supporting homeless and drug-addicted youngsters.
There are no rules to the game, other than a mandatory beer or six.
The event's organiser, Chris Connor, said his group didn't worry about rules at all and the aim was to "just get out there and hit".
Players simply whack plastic balls, using regulation lofted clubs, wherever they find themselves.
"We have a lot of, 'oh can you hit that BMW?', and then once you hit the car you try and hit another object," Mr Connor said.
There's no scoring or winners either.
Mr Connor said urban golf events were taking place simultaneously around the world.
