I have a hard time eating these fancy desserts with the little dollops of sauce on the plate. It always seems like there isn’t nearly enough sauce to have some with every bite of chocolate topped caramel mousse. And am I supposed to just pick up the pretty butterfly and shove it in my mouth? Because that’s totally my first impulse.

I know it’s probably not the hardest thing in the world to make a pretty picture in milk foam, but I can’t help but be super impressed when I see it. This one especially. It’s so nuanced and balanced and adorable! Also, how cute is that sweet bear’s (>_<) face? (I am an old lady, it took me forever to figure out how to make that face.)

Pastel polka dots! Another weather tragedy here in the Northwest, guys! It’s been in the mid 60s which makes me feel like an old lady with my cup of tea, all curled up with the cat and a blanket.  This sherbet with its cheerful setting is my attempt to brighten up the place. I know you folks on the east coast are still sweltering, I wish we could have had more than a couple weeks of real summer here, I’d gladly take some off your hands if I could! Eat some sherbet and send warm thoughts.

Mystery foods! I love conjecturing about what’s inside foodlumps. So, are these mochi? Do they have that little Kewpie doll point on top? I’m guessing they’re sweet by the color. Are they light and fluffy and cakelike all the way through? Are they dense and moist and filled with bean paste or peanut butter or fruit fillings? Are they tiny and hard and made of white chocolate like a little truffle? I MUST KNOW!

These are kind of super tacky, like a Vegas wedding with lots of tulle and fake vines wrapped around faux-finished Styrofoam Grecian columns. But they’re also awesome because first, Vegas weddings are a LOT of fun, and second, nothing goes better with weddings and strawberries than champagne and I could really go for a mimosa right now. With a strawberry. Why not?

These li’l dudes are so precious! I wish real animals had such round, bulbous heads; like if every animal had the proportions of a tiny puppy. I also want kittens to stay kittens forever and never turn into cats. Because let’s be honest, cats can be jerks sometimes.

In my brain, these have cream cheese frosting and now that’s all I can smell. And the cupcakes themselves, are they plain old vanilla or are they something crazy like lemon verbena? Love is so delicious.

I’m mostly concerned with the one super sad li’l ice cream cone over there. Is she being bullied by the others? Because I swear to sucrose I will defend to the death the right for a plush food craft to belong to its rightful group. If wee sweet fake treats can’t get along, what real hope do we have?

I really like her nail polish, it serves the truffles well, bringing out the few turquoise sprinkles. Do you guys know how CRAZY easy it is to make chocolate truffles? Go find a truffle recipe, you will be amazed. It’s super simple and incredibly decadent, go make some and report back with the noms!
