MySpace Hires Former AOL Exec As SVP Of Business Development
MySpace (NSDQ: NWS), which has overhauled its management team in recent months and is preparing for a major relaunch of its site, has hired Tom Cox as its SVP of business development. Cox was a VP of business development at AOL (NYSE: AOL) until last December. Since then, he had been working as a principal at Stratique Partners, a boutique consultancy he founded with AOL colleague Micah Green.
MySpace says Cox will be “responsible for crafting and implementing MySpaceā€™s overall business strategy as well as identifying and negotiating critical partnerships that support key corporate objectives.” He’s filling a position that has been vacant since Ali Partovi left MySpace in April. Partovi, a co-founder of iLike, took the top business development job at MySpace when MySpace bought his company last summer.
