Grassroots Action on Food and Farming (GAFF) was established in 2001 to address the increasing corporate control and power in the food sytem and the demise of the small and family farm.

GAFF is the sister organisation to the Food and Agriculture Research Project at Corporate Watch. It was borne out of a recognition that there should be a dedicated organisation focused on raising awareness and identifying solutions to the increasing corporate control of the food system and that our research should directly inform grassroots activities and other work undertaken by civil society organisations.

GAFF has three broad aims:

i) to raise awareness of the impacts of power imbalances and corporate control of the current food system

ii) to identify solutions to these complex problems and provoke public action and policy change to transform the current damaging and highly exploitative food system

iii) to create a more just and sustainable food system

Our work is coalition-based and we work at both the national and international levels. We aim to facilitate greater communication and alliance-building between groups.
