Striving to embody a commitment to Leadership, Reconciliation, Education and Social Entrepreneurship. | Believe in uniting and mobilising diverse people, out of a deep-seated respect for one another. | Committing ourselves in service to the African continent and its peoples. | Believe in the promotion and protection of social justice and fundamental human freedoms. | Calling for the creation of a humane world order by harnessing the past, in all its imperfections, for the benefit of the present and future. | Committed to the principle of participative democratic practice. | Believe that service is the key principle that underlies exceptional leadership.

The Community of Mandela Rhodes Scholars comprises current and past recipients of the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship. We aspire to the principles espoused by the Mandela Rhodes Foundation: Leadership, Education, Entrepreneurship and Reconciliation.

We concur with our patron Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela when he challenged world leaders to deal with ever-increasing poverty and inequality; "Recognise that the world is hungry for action, not words. Act with courage and vision. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom."

We intend to be that generation.
