Roof-repair extravanganza! 20th November

Members will be pleased to learn that a number of different sources of funding have suddenly come together (which is lucky as the club is basically broke) and waved some wads of twenties in the general direction of some roof-repair pixies who are (right now, in the howling wind and lashing rain) up some very tall ladders putting a stop to the frequent inundations we've had to endure for the last several years. Hoorah!

You can support this worthy endeavour by turning out on Saturday 20th for some retro-anarcho-punk from Zounds (whose great-grandparents were in short trousers when the present roof went on) and The Astronauts (who come from the future, obviously, where the shiny new roof will be seen to repel all the vile elements cast upon it). And not forgetting Andy T who travels not just through time (from the 1980's we think) but also up the Calder valley to bring us his doings. With luck we'll raise enough for last few dozen tiles to slot in place.

At the other end of the building-collapse-spectrum,  you can also help us by not spitting your gum out anywhere on the premises. Several of our worthiest and most capable volunteers recently put aside their complicated, urgent & terribly-important work to spend long hours on their hands and knees chiselling the vile grot off the floor. Easier just to put it back in the wrapper and take home, eh what?

Memberships

Memberships are now up for renewal - if you've paid recently your cards will be waiting for you behind the bar, provided we've had a Sunday meeting to process your application.

The rest of us will have to fill in the dreaded form and turn up with the money. Please help us by giving us your email address in a legible style.

If you're a new member you'll need someone to propose you, which means you'll usually have to come to the club. Renewals can be done by post, print out the form here and send us a cheque for three pounds (unemployed/student/low paid) or five pounds, payable to The 1 in 12 Club, and send it to us at 21-23 Albion Street, Bradford BD1 2LY.

quiz_1_300The 1 in 12 Quiz Team

One of the longest serving club collectives, The 1in12 Quiz Team plays in the Airedale Quiz League and, in the 2009-2010 season, scooped the Airedale Plate.

Team activities are organised on a F***book page and a G**gle site but don't let that put you off. You can always just turn up to one of the home games on a Tuesday night (check the events list or calendar otherwise you might find the place locked, cold and empty if they're at an away match) and introduce yourself.

You'll need to join the club obviously*- membership forms should be available at the bar or you can print one here.

(*or get signed in as a guest while you make your mind up)

The Print Project

print_project_15print_project_01

Our aim is to keep the skill and art of letterpress alive by producing work which is incredible to read, feel and touch. It’s that simple.

Not sure what letterpress is? Have a look at this Wikipedia definition or better still have a look at these images.

Our work is centred around an Arab Platen, which has been powered by hand, foot and eye for over 100 years.

We actively salvage, recycle and re-use print equipment (ink, type, paper etc) which is rendered obsolete by commercial interests.

If you are interested in incorporating letterpress into your work or are interested in joining The Print Project please get in touch.

Access to the press is by prior arrangement only.

We have a website which can be found here.
