by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 9th 2010 6:00PM
Anthony Zuiker'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' creator Anthony Zuiker has returned to the writers' room for the CBS show's 11th season.

Zuiker has not had a direct presence in day-to-day operations on 'CSI' for about five years, instead working on other projects and spin-off shows. According to Vulture, CBS executives and 'CSI' showrunner Carol Mendelsohn wanted to bring Zuiker back to the mothership show for an injection of bizarre stories that made the show watercooler material in its earlier seasons.

An upcoming episode of the show will feature a werewolf/vampire convention.

Weezer's new album 'Hurley' will feature a photo of 'Lost' star Jorge Garcia on the cover. Garcia played the lovable Hurley on the hit ABC show. Check out the full cover and the story behind it on Spinner.

Wayne Brady is heading back to 'How I Met Your Mother.' The host of 'Let's Make a Deal' is reprising his role of James, Barney's brother. Look for Ben Vereen to play Brady's father. According to TV Guide Magazine, the duo will appear in the second episode of this upcoming season.

Megan Boone has joined the cast of 'Law and Order: Los Angeles.' Boone, who had a part in 'Sex and the City 2,' will play an ADA. According to Deadline Hollywood, Boone's character will be the ADA under Terrence Howard's DDA.

by Maggie Furlong, posted Aug 9th 2010 2:30PM
'Dating in the Dark'Last summer, 'Dating in the Dark' presented an interesting twist on the classic dating reality show, and now it's back for more night vision scenes of sexy singles fumbling around in the dark to try to get to know one another.

Host Rossi Moreale explained to us why the show works, and why it doesn't matter if you've graced the cover of Maxim or not -- he says contestants are finding a deeper connection because "they're actually having a conversation and not just staring at each other's butts."

With season 2 premiering (Mon., Aug. 9, 10PM ET on ABC), will you watch? Or are you over dating on reality TV?

Three Cooking Channel Shows You Should Sample

by Allison Waldman, posted Aug 9th 2010 2:00PM
cooking_channel_logoWhen the Cooking Channel launched a couple of months ago, we were rather critical of lineup, but since then, a handful of shows have not only proven to be the best on the network, but might be our favorite new food programs, period.

Here's three Cooking Channel shows that you should take the time to check out:

    1. 'Unique Eats.'

Kind of like 'The Best Thing I Ever Ate,' 'Unique Eats' is a terrific show about food from a foodie's point of view. In this case, specific places in a particular area are chosen for the unique fare they serve, and then the experts tell viewers why it's so special. The focus on interesting shops, bakeries, restaurants and eateries is excellent, but what makes the show so compelling is that the people going on and on about these locales are recognizable foodies from other networks and channels.

Melissa Rycroft on Co-Hosting ABC's 'Bachelor Pad,' Baby Names and Advice for Ali and Roberto

by Andrew Scott, posted Aug 9th 2010 1:00PM
Melissa RycroftMelissa Rycroft continues to turn a bad breakup into a great career opportunity.

After successful stints on 'Good Morning America' and 'Dancing With the Stars,' the adorable mom-to-be, who was unceremoniously dumped by 'Bachelor' star Jason Mesnick on live television last year, is now the co-host of ABC's new reality series 'Bachelor Pad,' premiering tonight at 8PM ET/PT.

The show will put 19 former 'Bachelor' and 'Bachelorette' contestants into a house (the same house from the 'Bachelor' franchise, Rycroft told me), whether they will compete in various challenges for a hefty sum of $250,000; and since this is the 'Bachelor' we're talking about, they may even find love, as well.

Last week, Rycroft, who announced last month that she is expecting her first child with husband Tye Strickland, chatted with TV Squad about 'The Bachelor Pad,' her whirlwind year and the advice she has for 'Bachelorette' Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez.

More HBO News: 'Entourage' Winding Down, 'Game of Thrones' Premiere, 'No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency' Movies

by Joel Keller, posted Aug 9th 2010 12:40PM
'Entourage' cast: Jeremy Piven, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier
I'm back from California, and while I try to shake jet lag, I wanted to pass along some other items from Saturday's HBO press tour executive session, besides the news I mentioned in yesterday's report:

-- Even though the impending end of 'Entourage' was expected, HBO programming co-presidents Richard Plepler and Michael Lombardo mentioned that the final season will likely consist of six episodes, and there may be a feature film in the works. "We're in a long-term relationship with ('Entourage' executive producer) Doug Ellin. I would expect that within the next couple of years you'll see him up here with another show. I think next time will definitely be the final season of 'Entourage,'" said Lombardo.

-- Lombardo at first announced that the premiere date of the highly-anticipated 'Game of Thrones' would be March 3, but then changed it to "Spring" after checking with an off-stage executive.

-- The executives confirmed that they're working with The Weinstein Company to develop two movie scripts to continue the story of the now-defunct series 'The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.' "As a series, I think this felt like a more comfortable and organic way for the storytelling to continue," said Lombardo.

'Mad Men' Moment: Don Says Goodbye (VIDEO)

by Joel Keller, posted Aug 9th 2010 12:04PM
Don says goodby to Anna on 'Mad Men' - 'The Good News'There are very few people on the planet who know who the real Don Draper is. In fact, there aren't many people on the planet who know that the real Don Draper is actually dead, and the person using his name is actually a guy named Dick Whitman.

Anna Draper is one of those people.

The relationship between Anna and Dick Whitman is one of the most unique ones on television. He took Don's name after coming home from the war; she took him in, and they took care of each other. As a result, he's been able to take care of her as he's continued to carry the Draper name to New York, got married, started a family, and got a painful divorce (which was precipitated by Betty finding out the truth... more on that later). Now the Draper name is proudly on the door of an up-and-coming ad agency. They have a love for each other that's hard to describe, but easy to see.

Which is why Don's trip to Southern California on this week's 'Mad Men' (Sundays at 10PM ET on AMC) was so painful.
