We have judiciously documented this phenomenon on a number of previous occasions – the SEMA show last year, the Geneva show this year, and even the Beijing motor show back in April.

Audi has unveiled its sensational new quattro concept at the Paris motor show, and has promised to put the 404bhp car into production if the case can be made for a limited run.

The brawny looking two-seater is meant as a celebration of quattro's 30th anniversary, and that theme defines almost every aspect of the car.

Like the legendary 1984 Sport quattro, the concept is based on a shortened chassis (borrowed from the RS5) and gets the 2.5-litre inline five-cylinder engine currently seen in the TT-RS, but boosts the power by over 60bhp.
