Free Radio has been evicted and needs a new home.
Free Radio Santa Cruz has been on the air for over 15 years, but not without having to move from time to time. This is the downside of being an unlicensed, DIY, pirate radio station.
Free Radio Santa Cruz celebrated 15 years of unlicensed, community supported radio on March 27th at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in downtown Santa Cruz. The night featured local musicians and brought together past and present station programmers, as well as other community members. In addition to the local musicians, Tom Lodge, a pirate radio legend and pioneer from England, spoke of the great days of Radio Caroline, which allowed for the British Invasion. Lodge recently penned a book called The Ship That Rocked The World: How Radio Caroline Defied the Establishment, Launched the British Invasion, and Made the Planet Safe for Rock and Roll.
Free Radio Santa Cruz can be picked up at 101.1 FM in most of Santa Cruz, and online at www.freakradio.org

When the animals take over the farm, they think it is the start of a better life. Their dreams are of a world where all animals are equal and all property is shared. But soon the pigs take control and one of them, Napoleon, becomes the leader of all the animals. One by one the principles of the revolution are abandoned, until the animals have even less freedom than before.

Member 'Zoya' of the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Aghanistan (RAWA) recently visit Olympia. During her talk on October 27th, 2009, at Traditions she called for the withdrawel of US troops from Afghanistan, Disarmament of the Northern Alliance war lords, Afghan government and Taliban, and support from the US for democratic movements in Afghanistan as part of the reconciliation process for her country.
Zoya's words should be heed by all those who oppose the occupation of Afghanistan and by those who have supported it.
Below is a link to an episode of Uprising Radio in which Zoya is interviewed about RAWA and the situation in Afghanistan:
