austria
You may not be that familiar with Austria, the landlocked country of almost 9 million people in Europe, but chances are you have enjoyed a Joseph Hayden concerto or one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's masterpieces. Or maybe you learned about the Doppler Effect in your high school science class. Or maybe you have seen Christoph Waltz light up the screen in the award-winning movie Inglorious Basterds recently. We have Austria to thank for all of these, and so much more.
So even if you have never been to Austria proper, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a Wiener Schnitzel or a strudel for lunch or dinner. And it doesn't mean you haven't studied one of Sigmund Freud's theories on psychoanalysis in college. Furthermore, if you live in California, your state is now governed by an Austrian, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Austria has made many powerful contributions to the industries of art, science, literature, economics, cuisine, and sports. Recently, the Information Technology sector of Austria has been exploding. Hardware, software, telecommunications, SEO (search engine optimization), server clusters, and Internet Service Providers have all made Austria internationally competitive in the Technology Arena.
