    Throwback Wednesday on a Thursday

    July 23rd, 2010

This week I’m bringing you a Blueprint² leftover. I never knew this song existed until last year when I started to download a ton of old Jay-Z promo cds. As soon as I heard the sample I was sold. It was flipped perfectly and Jay went in. This song without a doubt shoulda made Blueprint² , which in my opinion is one of his best albums. People are always saying he shoulda made it 1 CD but I highly disagree. By making it 2 CDs he gave the fans more listen and talk about I don’t have a problem with any of the tracks, they’re all vintage Jay to me. Truth be told, I’d take any of the songs on Blueprint² over Blueprint 3 any day.

    Nicki Minaj – Your Love

    July 21st, 2010

One of my new guilty pleasures finally has a music video. I’ve been bumping this song non stop the last few days. I know its cheesy but the Annie Lennox sample is just too dope. What can I say, I’m a sucker for 80s and 90s sampling. This also happens to be the first number 1 charting female rap song since “Work It” in 2002. The video is just about as good as the song. The whole concept of her being in a karate class and fighting another female over a guy is dope. The fight scene pays homage to Kill Bill as well. Check it out! And download the Promo CDS with the Flo Rida remix while your at it.

Joell Ortiz – We Don’t Believe You (feat. Joe Budden)

    July 21st, 2010

Here is Mr. Yoawa’s latest video from his upcoming mixtape with DJ Green Lantern & DJ Don Canon cleverly entitled, Yoawa. It’s dropping this October. This song is great. Joell, whom had some off the best verses on the Slaughterhouse album continues to prove that he’s still rapping his ass off. Joe Budden doesn’t disappoint either. He’s got a lot to prove with his upcoming Mood Muzik 4 mixtape. P.S. where is the Pre Agent and Free Agent at?

    Music Video Weekly #101

    July 21st, 2010

Ok so I brought you 100 of my favorite music videos these last 2 years. Now my mission is to bring you great music videos from classic hip hop albums I’ve been sleeping on. What better group to start it off with than A Tribe Called Quest? I’ll fully admit I had been sleeping on this group until the other night. I finally got around to listening to their The Low End Theory album and I must say its greatness. I have always been a fan of Q-Tip on his features so I don’t know why I had been sleeping on ATCQ for so long. Everyone’s heard “Scenario” by them and we all know that Busta rips it but I wanted to pick a less played song by them so here is the music video too their first single off that album.

Gotham Green – Tell Me Something (feat. Freddie Gibbs)

    July 20th, 2010

Big thanks to ThankMeLater for putting me onto this dope video. The artist is Gotham Green whom I’ve never heard of but he kills it nonetheless. It also features one of my favorite new artists, Freddie Gibbs. I’m really looking forward to that Str8 Killa mixtape of his which should be out in the next few weeks. Oh yeah and if you like this video check out Gotham Green & Dj Quickie Mart’s new mixtape, Haze Diaries Vol. 3 here.

    Charlie Clips – Fear Freestyle

    July 20th, 2010

Here is a new video Dipset Affiliate Charlie Clips did for his = freestyle mixtape entitled, Scooby Snacks. If you don’t have it you can download it here. Clips does a good job freestyling over Drake’s record. I’m always a fan of the “look into my life” type of rap. I first heard Clips on J.R. Writer’s Cinecrack 1.5 mixtape. A couple months later I found out he was down with Cam as well, when I heard him on that Boss of All Bosses tape. He’s definitely a promising act. I look forward to what he has to offer.

Flo Rida – Club Can’t Handle Me (feat. David Guetta)

    July 20th, 2010

Sorry for my lack of posting as of late. I’m dealing with work and sleep deprivation. Anyhow, here is Flo Rida’s first single off his upcoming 3rd album, The Only One. Flo Rida has been one of those few pop rap artists that I actually check for. His debut album Mail On Sunday was one of my favorite albums in 2008 and his follow up R.O.O.T.S. was very good as well. Each one of those albums had a different overall sound. I wouldn’t be surprised if this one does as well. I’ll keep y’all updated on the release date.

    Single of the Week #29

    July 17th, 2010

Wow the day has finally come! The Young Gunz are ready to drop another project! This song is crazy. I haven’t heard them this hungry since their classic debut, Tough Luv. Neef Buck is rappin like he never left and Young Chris just dropped his dopest verse of the year. Apparently they got a new mixtape coming on the 23rd. I can’t wait for it. Hopefully it actually drops. As soon as I heard Neef spaz I knew this had to be the single of the week. I’ve been playing this like non stop.

Pacewon & Mr. Green – Liquor & Drugs (Trailer)

    July 17th, 2010

I don’t usually post trailers but if its for something extremely dope I will. This is one of those exceptions. Here is the trailer to the upcoming Pacewon & Mr Green video for “Liquor & Drugs.” It will appear on their upcoming album, The Only Number that Matters is Won. If you’ve ever followed my blog you’d know that my favorite album to drop in 2007 was The Only Color that Matters is Green. If you haven’t heard anything from it check out all the videos here.

    Music Video Weekly #100

    July 14th, 2010

The 100th Music Video Weekly is finally here. Once a week for the past 2 years I’ve posted my favorite throwback music videos. Today I’ll be posting one of my favorite videos/songs ever. If you guessed “Lose Yourself” your correct. Its honestly one of the realest Hip Hop songs ever made. It describes the way an emcee feels down to a tee. The only other song that may be on this level IMO is Nas’ “One Mic.” The 8 Mile Soundtrack was a great soundtrack. He did some of his best solo work on it and the other artists he reached out to didn’t disappoint either. And you already know how great the movie was.
