Source: Wyclef Jean to Run for President of Haiti

By PopEater Staff  Posted Aug 3rd 2010 09:20PM
Musician Wyclef Jean is set to announce his candidacy for president of Haiti this Thursday on CNN's 'Larry King Live,' a source close to the singer told CNN Tuesday. And the former head of Haiti's Chamber of Deputies confirmed the move, telling the Associated Press that Jean will soon announce his run for president.

Jean's rep wouldn't confirm the reports but did acknowledge the singer will be making an announcement Thursday. She wouldn't comment on what Jean will discuss at that time.

It's been speculated for months that the hip hop artist would run for president--Jean even released a song titled 'If I Was President.' And though the singer's never confirmed the rumors, he's never denied them either.

Jean, 37, was born in Haiti but left soon after and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. The singer is a popular figure in Haiti nonetheless; his music and charity work after the devastating January 12 earthquake has made him a favorite among many locals.

A Few Surprising Celebrity Tweeters With Clout

By Jo Piazza  Posted Aug 3rd 2010 08:00PM
We've all heard about Kim Kardashian being paid $10,000 to send out a tweet on some product or company's behalf and of Ashton Kutcher's successful campaigns for brands who want to raise their social media profiles. (Have you seen the mad love he is giving to PopChips lately?)

Those two are practically tweet royalty, and are also big enough celebrities that we aren't too surprised at their level of influence over the interwebs.

But there are some celeb tweeters out there who have a lot of clout that just might surprise you. Or rather, we should say Klout, to describe the score one San Francisco company has devised to measure the amount of influence a person has online. A Klout score, which is out of 100, not only measures how many followers you have, but how influential those followers are and how engaged they are.

In non-nerd terms, the Klout score doesn't just measure how many friends you have, but it also takes into account how cool those friends are ... and how loyal. A Klout score tells you how much people really, really like you and how often they're telling other people online that they think you're great.

Bunchen and husband, Tom Brady, have a seven-month-old son, Benjamin.

Within minutes of the interview leaking, moms everywhere jumped into the conversation--some supporting the supermodel and some completely outraged by her comments.

Playing the whole thing very diplomatically, Bunchen updated her blog late Monday to further clarify her comments in the magazine.

Which makes his girlfriend's candid interview in the latest edition of Italian Vanity Fair all the more surprising. PEOPLE has a sneak peek of the interview in which Elisabetta Canalis, the Italian model/actress who's been dating the movie star since 2009, opens up how Clooney pampers her, how supportive he is, and what it's like dating the world's most eligible bachelor.

For the Last Time, Luke Wilson Cannot Help You With Your AT&T Cell Phone Problems

By Bryan Alexander  Posted Aug 3rd 2010 06:28PM
Luke Wilson has been a major movie star for the last 15 years. Yet when people stop him on the streets these days, they want to know if he can help them with their cell phone service.

For those living in a cave, Wilson is also the ubiquitous pitchman for AT&T phone service.

"It shows the power of the medium," Wilson said at the press day of his new movie 'Middle Men.' "You're making movies for 15 years and now people are like, 'You're the AT&T guy.' "

    "I guess I am."

When PopEater asked Wilson if he could help us with our faulty AT&T cell phone reception, he politely declined.

"But I can give you the card of the guy you should call," he added, helpfully.

Bristol Palin: 'It's Over' With Levi Johnston

By PopEater Staff  Posted Aug 3rd 2010 05:35PM
Bristol Palin: 'It's Over' With Levi JohnstonBristol Palin has confirmed the official breakup of her re-engagement with Levi Johnston. The young couple graced the cover of Us Weekly less than three weeks ago, proclaiming their happy news; now Sarah Palin's daughter, 19, tells PEOPLE, "It's over. I broke up with him."

Palin tells PEOPLE the relationship started heading south the very day the Us Weekly cover story hit shelves -- Johnston, who has a 19-month-old son with Bristol, broke news to her that very evening that he may have fathered a child with a young girl. The former girlfriend denied this, but Bristol was finished.

"There's been no remorse," she says. "The final straw was him flying to Hollywood for what he told me was to see some hunting show but come to find out it was that music video mocking my family. He's just obsessed with the limelight and I got played."

In a late July vote wondering if the couple would last, 56 percent of PopEater readers voted "not a chance."
